Jaguar offers a first glimpse into its entirely electric Type 01.
Jaguar has unveiled the initial interior images of the Type 01, an electric grand tourer set to fill a two-year hiatus during which the brand ceased offering new vehicles in the UK. The car will be unveiled in New York on October 6, following a delay from late 2025, with an anticipated price of approximately £100,000.
Jaguar has shared the first visuals of the Type 01’s interior just two months ahead of its debut in New York. A brass-finished spine runs the length of the cabin, dividing it into four distinct areas, featuring a low seating position and a narrow dashboard. The brand states that the color scheme is inspired by travertine stone.
The importance of the design language is overshadowed by the vehicle's capabilities. Jaguar stopped the sale of new cars in the UK in November 2024 and has been effectively absent from the market since, awaiting this model's launch.
The Type 01 is the production variant of the Type 00 concept that was introduced in December 2024, launched alongside a rebranding effort and a “Copy Nothing” campaign that faced significant ridicule for not showcasing any actual cars. Managing director Rawdon Glover remarked at that time that the brand was “OK to be polarizing” and needed to stand out instead of blending in.
Its arrival was initially scheduled for an earlier date. The release was pushed from late 2025 to 2026 due to strategic realignment and production issues, coinciding with a cyberattack that halted operations at Jaguar Land Rover’s UK factories.
This cyberattack has been labeled the most costly in British corporate history, with estimates suggesting a total impact of about £1.9 billion on the broader UK economy, while JLR confirmed a loss of £196 million. This event also resulted in parent company Tata Motors reporting a loss.
There are high expectations for the vehicle itself. Industry reports suggest a price of around £100,000, a configuration with three motors producing nearly 1,000 horsepower, and a range of over 400 miles, utilizing a dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture designed exclusively for this brand. Jaguar has not verified any of these specifications.
What has been confirmed is the spectacle. A prototype will appear at Pebble Beach on August 16 with a new design wrap, followed by the full reveal in New York on October 6, featuring a four-door GT model intended to compete with the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS.
The pattern has been one of ambition meeting delays. Jaguar Land Rover announced back in 2021 that Jaguar would transition to an all-electric lineup by 2025, with the first vehicle from this initiative reaching customers in 2026.
