The Pixel 11 finally includes the video enhancements I've been looking forward to, but not all Pixels receive these updates.
This year’s improvements are significant: enhanced stabilization, AI editing, and improved audio, although the features still vary primarily by price.
For the last two generations, I've expressed my dissatisfaction with the Pixel's video quality compared to other brands. Google has finally acknowledged this.
Today, the Pixel 11 lineup was launched, featuring its most substantial video updates in years. However, not all enhancements are available across every model.
So, what’s the key video enhancement here?
To begin with, let’s look at the increase in video resolution. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL can now record in 8K at 24 or 30fps. This capability is supported by Video Boost, the cloud-assisted feature that has been exclusive to Pro models since the Pixel 8 Pro.
The standard Pixel 11 does not include this upgrade; it remains limited to 4K and 1080p at up to 60fps for all rear lenses. Additionally, stabilization has received an update called Pro Stable Video, which is also exclusive to the Pro and Pro XL. This feature combines OIS, EIS, and Fused stabilization to produce remarkably smooth 8K footage.
All models in the lineup now come with 20x Super Res Zoom Video, which could be useful for filming events from a distance, such as concerts or sports games. I consider this a valuable addition, especially since the base model includes a telephoto lens as well.
What else is different about the Pixel 11?
On the software front, a new Creator Tab integrates trimming, clip reordering, and automatic project albums into what Google refers to as the Creator Suite. There's also a built-in Teleprompter for users who wish to read from a prepared script.
Magic Capture allows users to take both a photo and video with one button press, automatically cropping and enhancing the image, while Live Translate functions during video playback as well, not just for phone calls.
Audio features have also received careful attention. Speech Enhancement and Audio Magic Eraser improve dialogue clarity, while stereo recording, wind reduction, and Audio Zoom enhance outdoor filming quality.
All cameras now support 10-bit HDR, with dual exposure available specifically on the wide lens. Overall, the Pixel 11 series significantly enhances video recording capabilities, making it a superior choice for vlogs, handheld documentaries, or capturing memories.

Pixel 11 vs. Pixel 10 series: Are Google’s new phones worth the upgrade?
I compared the Pixel 11 series to the Pixel 10, and here’s what you should know before making a purchase.
Google’s Pixel 11 family has arrived, and on paper, it addresses several issues I wanted to see rectified from the Pixel 10 lineup. The Tensor G6 promises a substantial performance increase across all four models, and Google has improved the cameras throughout, along with faster charging. The Pro models also feature brighter and more durable displays. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has received much-needed design enhancements.
These are solid improvements for an annual refresh of Google’s flagship line. However, whether they warrant replacing a Pixel 10 you acquired a year ago is another matter. Having covered numerous yearly smartphone updates, here’s who should genuinely consider the upgrade.
