Streaming services seem to be increasing in cost each year, but Google is providing Google TV users with another opportunity to explore further without needing to pay for an additional subscription.
Google TV's Freeplay, which previously concentrated mostly on free live television, is introducing video-on-demand for the first time. The service now features over 10,000 movies and TV shows that you can view at your convenience, in addition to its expanding assortment of free live channels.

Similar to Freeplay’s current channels, the new on-demand library is ad-supported, so there’s no need for another monthly payment to access it.
Google states that the library consists of content from studios like A24 and Lionsgate, with titles such as Lady Bird, 17 Again, and Hell’s Kitchen currently offered. The selection will not remain unchanged either, as Google intends to update the library periodically throughout the year.
This new feature enhances the appeal of Google’s Freeplay service, allowing users to watch shows and movies on their own timeline instead of being limited to what is airing on the live channels.

Google has not overlooked its live channels, as it is receiving a new addition of channels that brings the total count of free channels to over 300. The new channels span categories including news, sports, reality TV, true crime, and more. New entries include Bloomberg TV+, Yahoo! Sports Network, World of Love Island, and The Martha Stewart Channel.
Freeplay is integrated directly into Google TV, eliminating the need for a separate service to download or a subscription to manage. Users can simply access the Freeplay app from the Google TV home screen to enjoy both the live channels and the new on-demand library. There is, however, one significant limitation: Google TV Freeplay is currently only available on Google TV devices in the U.S.
