Ultrahuman's most significant update yet replaces charts with real advice.

Ultrahuman is launching Emerald today, marking its most significant platform update in four years. If you have an Ultrahuman Ring Air, Ring Pro, or any of its other health devices, expect your app to appear and function quite differently.

What is UltraSphere, and why is it important?

The main feature of this update is UltraSphere, which Ultrahuman describes as a pioneering decision engine for smart rings. Rather than simply presenting another chart, it prominently appears on the home screen, offering over 60 Next Best Actions based on your data related to sleep, recovery, HRV, stress, movement, and glucose levels if you use the M1 or M2 CGM.

These recommendations are tailored based on your location, weather conditions, and circadian rhythm, meaning that advice for a jet-lagged traveler will differ from that of a new parent. For instance, Ultrahuman provided examples like suggesting you go outside shortly after waking to adjust your body clock, or warning that consuming caffeine later in the day could disrupt your sleep.

Mohit Kumar, CEO of Ultrahuman, elaborated on this transition: “All wearable trackers generate data. While data is empowering, people need more than just numbers; they want guidance. The Emerald Update emphasizes actionable data, introducing layers of biointelligence that address the 'so what' with context and insights at every level.”

What other changes come with this update?

Ultrahuman is also incorporating a vital feature for frequent travelers and those who find themselves without service. The device can now process everything independently, ensuring your recovery score, stress rhythm, and Next Best Actions remain operational without connectivity.

Additionally, workout tracking has been enhanced, featuring improved automatic detection and heart rate accuracy validated against leading devices. If you prefer using an Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, or even AirPods Pro Gen 3 for workouts, you can now sync that data directly into the app instead of solely depending on the ring.

The VO2 Max measurement, a strong indicator of long-term health, has also been refined. Ultrahuman reports that its updated algorithm achieves results within 5 mL per kg per min of actual lab findings, validated with over 100 athletes.

There's also a wealth of other features included, such as a new Longevity tab for tracking metrics like UltraAge and Brain Age, a Sleep Screener that consolidates your nightly data into a single report, and the ability to finally share cycle and ovulation data with a partner.

      Should you consider updating?

The Emerald update will be rolling out worldwide starting today, so there’s really no reason to pass on it. What I appreciate most is that all of this is available at no additional cost. It’s a free update that truly enhances the overall experience.
