You can now connect your preferred apps to AI Mode in Google Search to accomplish tasks.
AI Mode is now compatible with Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music within Search.
Google is enhancing AI Mode in Search by allowing connections to third-party apps. Beginning this week in the U.S., users can securely link some of their favorite apps to AI Mode, enabling Search to perform tasks for you rather than just providing answers.
This update expands upon a similar feature already seen in the Gemini app and now integrates it directly into Search. The initial launch includes three partners: Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music, with Google indicating that more app integrations are forthcoming.
Starting today in the U.S., this rollout aims to streamline your daily activities. More partners and app integrations will be introduced soon. For additional details, refer to this link: https://t.co/P8uoolKSZR— Robby Stein (@rmstein) July 16, 2026.
Which apps can you currently connect to AI Mode?
The first round of integrations focuses on common tasks that generally begin with a basic Google search. For instance, if you're organizing a backyard barbecue and utilizing AI Mode for your grocery list, connecting Instacart allows you to add every ingredient directly to your cart, reducing your shopping trip to just a few taps at checkout.

Why is this update significant?
This update represents more than just a minor adjustment; it signifies a substantial change in how Google Search functions. Rather than presenting you with a list of links and leaving you to complete the task, Google Search can now directly interact with the apps you already utilize.
With this update, AI Mode feels less like a search tool and more like a personal assistant handling tasks seamlessly in the background. According to Google, this is just the beginning, with additional app partners expected to join soon.
