      According to Bloomberg, two updated styluses are expected with the iPad Pro launch next spring.

      Apple's upcoming iPad Pro refresh may not be the only hardware receiving upgrades. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on two new Apple Pencil models for release in the spring. This new lineup is anticipated to feature an updated Apple Pencil Pro, along with a refreshed version of the more budget-friendly USB-C Apple Pencil, both set to be unveiled alongside the next-gen iPad Pro.

      An upgrade for both ends of the lineup

      Gurman indicates that Apple is developing two new stylus models internally. The first, referred to as B582, will replace the entry-level USB-C Apple Pencil that debuted in 2023. The second model, known internally as B632, will update the Apple Pencil Pro originally introduced with the M4 iPad Pro in 2024. Historically, Apple has launched new Apple Pencils alongside updated iPads, so the timing aligns with the upcoming iPad Pro refresh.

      Although Gurman hasn’t disclosed any specific new features for these styluses, he does mention that Apple is working to adhere to forthcoming European Union regulations aimed at making batteries easier to replace in consumer electronics. Consequently, one possibility is that the new Apple Pencils may incorporate redesigned battery systems, addressing previous generations' major repairability concerns, which often relied on glued construction.

      The new Apple Pencils are expected to be released during what is shaping up to be a busy first half of 2027 for Apple. Gurman has previously indicated that the company is also planning a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro and new iPad Pro models around the same timeframe, following this year's anticipated launches of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, updated Apple Watches, refreshed Macs, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

      Currently, Apple has not officially confirmed any of these products. However, if Gurman's report is accurate, next spring may bring significant updates not just for iPads but also the first refresh of both Apple Pencil models in several years.
