Samsung has scheduled the Unpacked event for July 22 to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series of foldable smartphones.
Samsung has already confirmed that, in addition to its traditional book-style and clamshell-style foldable phones, it is set to unveil a third new form factor.
Samsung has announced the date for its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, where the company is expected to introduce a new line of foldable phones and wearable devices. This event is scheduled for July 22 and will take place in London. As usual, it will be live-streamed for viewers at home via Samsung’s official website, its newsroom portal, and the brand’s official YouTube channel. The event will start at 2 p.m. BST, 9 a.m. EDT, and 3 p.m. CEST.
What to expect at Galaxy Unpacked 2026?
In its official blog post, Samsung has referenced foldable smartphones, but this time the emphasis will not only be on the form factor but also on new software experiences driven by AI features. “By merging intelligent capabilities with innovative form factors, the next generation of Galaxy devices is designed to offer more personalized and adaptive experiences, establishing a new benchmark for the AI era,” the company states.
Unlike previous years, we can expect to see not two but three designs for foldable phones, based on leaked information. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be the premier book-style foldable phone release for this year. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will cater to the clamshell segment. The new addition to the lineup is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which some leaks suggest might be named the Galaxy Z Fold Wide.
This model will be wider and slightly shorter than Samsung’s existing book-style foldable phones and could resemble the Microsoft Surface Duo or the Oppo Find N2 foldable phones released a few years back. Notably, Samsung’s upcoming wide-style foldable is anticipated to serve as a precursor to Apple’s foldable iPhone, expected to launch later this year.
Concerning the details and the drawbacks
Design-wise, not much change is expected for the other Galaxy foldable phones. The most significant update will be on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. According to recent leaks, it will incorporate the same technology as the Oppo Find N6, which significantly reduces the crease on the inner flexible display panel. For years, the crease issue has plagued foldable phones, and it appears Samsung may have finally found a solution. Although it may not be completely crease-free, as some rumors suggest about the iPhone Fold, the improvements will be noticeable.
However, the bad news is that prices may rise considerably. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is anticipated to retail for around $2,500, representing an increase of about $114 based on current conversion rates. If you opt for the 1TB storage model, you could end up paying over $319 more than the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 price. Similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip 8's price may also increase by approximately $200 compared to its predecessor. The ongoing memory shortage is likely responsible for these price hikes, and it seems the crisis will not resolve soon.

Your free mobile VPN is a privacy disaster
Android's free VPNs are somehow worse than anticipated.
The free VPN app you downloaded for your Android device may be doing more harm than good. A recent extensive audit of free Android VPN apps has revealed alarming findings that warrant healthy skepticism. Researchers found these apps leaking traffic, transmitting identifying information to third parties, and essentially failing to fulfill the primary function of a VPN. The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Michigan, the University of New Mexico, and IIT Delhi. Their findings were presented at the Network and Distributed System Security Symposium 2026 alongside MVPNalyzer, a framework designed to automatically and systematically audit mobile VPN apps.
