Windows 11 will introduce a new Screen Tint mode, and your eyes could appreciate Microsoft for it.
Users can utilize custom color overlays to decrease screen brightness and alleviate eye strain.
Microsoft is currently testing a new accessibility feature in Windows 11 named Screen Tint, which could serve as a small enhancement that significantly impacts user experience. Unlike the Night Light feature that alters the display’s color temperature, Screen Tint applies a customizable color overlay across the entire screen, making bright displays more comfortable for the eyes during prolonged work or gaming periods.
A gentler display for fatigued eyes
Included in the latest Windows Insider preview build v29617.1000, Screen Tint allows users to choose from six preset colors or craft their own custom tint, adjusting its intensity via a dedicated slider. This feature can be found under Settings > Accessibility > Vision, making it simple to activate whenever screen fatigue begins to set in.

According to Microsoft, Screen Tint is intended for individuals who experience eye strain or sensitivity to bright, saturated displays. Unlike Night Light, which primarily targets blue light reduction for evening use, Screen Tint merely softens the screen's overall brightness and can even be used in conjunction with Night Light. However, it’s important to note that activating Screen Tint disables the existing Color Filters in Windows, meaning users who depend on those features will have to choose between them.
A minor feature with unexpected benefits
Interestingly, this appears to be one of those features that many may overlook until they experience it. Whether working on a bright document throughout the day, editing photos late at night, or simply seeking to lessen visual fatigue during lengthy gaming sessions, having a customizable screen overlay could enhance comfort in using Windows.

The latest Insider build also brings several other enhancements, including improved Bluetooth device recovery, refinements to the Recall experience, and multiple backend fixes. For those who spend extensive time in front of a monitor daily, Screen Tint could ultimately be the standout element of this update.

Apple's historically high costs for RAM upgrades on Macs have reached a new level of absurdity.
Mac RAM upgrade prices have surged amid the global memory shortage.
Apple's RAM upgrades for Macs were already costly enough to raise eyebrows, and following the company's recent price increases, some of them now seem outrageous. Recently, Apple raised prices across its Mac and iPad range, along with other products, citing increasing memory and storage expenses. The supply shortage is genuine, yet Mac buyers were already facing steep prices for RAM and SSD upgrades long before this increase. Recent configuration screenshots of the MacBook Pro shared by 9to5Mac illustrate just how much more expensive the upgrade options have become.
Apple is seeking a politically sensitive solution for the memory crisis, which has not pleased the US government.
Apple attributed the price increases to rising memory costs, while its proposed fix involves a Pentagon blacklist.
Recently, Apple announced an unwelcome mid-cycle price hike, blaming the ongoing memory crisis that deteriorates day by day. As reported by the Financial Times, the company is now advocating for government approval to procure memory chips from a Chinese firm. The company in question is CXMT, a Chinese chipmaker that the Pentagon has placed on its blacklist of Chinese Military Companies due to alleged connections with the Chinese military.
As iPads become more expensive, Motorola’s Pad 70 Pro emerges as an appealing option… but it's not yet available for US customers.
With impressive specifications, a stylus included, yet without a US launch date, the Moto Pad 70 Pro sounds both tantalizing and disappointing.
If you haven't heard about Apple's recent price hike affecting all products in its lineup except for the iPhone and Apple Watch (for now), you must be somewhat disconnected. The revision has resulted in significantly higher prices for all iPads. Conversely, Motorola has just introduced a 13-inch tablet that looks promising on paper. Named the Moto Pad 70 Pro, it retails for around $440 for the base model. However, the drawback is that the device is currently unavailable in the US.
