Honor's latest Watch 6 offers battery life that Apple Watch users can only wish for.
Honor has officially launched the Honor Watch 6 globally, featuring a standout capability that addresses the frequent charging issue associated with many smartwatches. As its name suggests, it is the successor to the Watch 5 series. The company asserts that the Watch 6 can endure up to 35 days during extensive use and up to 17 days with more typical usage. Even when GPS is activated for outdoor activities, Honor claims the watch can last up to 42 hours.
This distinguishes it from popular smartwatches such as the Apple Watch and various Wear OS alternatives, which often require daily or bi-daily charging. This impressive longevity is supported by a large 980mAh battery housed within a surprisingly slim 10.8mm casing, weighing just 41 grams without the strap.
Honor is emphasizing the Watch 6 as a companion for outdoor activities
The Watch 6 is equipped with a 1.46-inch Hybrid LTPS display that boasts a claimed peak brightness of 3,000 nits, facilitating visibility during activities like running, cycling, or hiking in bright sunlight. Additionally, it features wet touch control, ensuring the display remains responsive even in rainy, humid, or sweaty conditions. While it may seem minor, anyone who has attempted to interact with a wet smartwatch screen while running knows how aggravating moisture can be. Its outdoor-oriented design is further highlighted by a stainless steel bezel, an aluminum alloy casing, and 5ATM + IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Special features for badminton and football players
The sports functionalities go beyond the typical 100+ workout modes. Honor has incorporated dedicated Professional Football Mode and Professional Badminton Mode. The football mode tracks metrics such as step count, distance, top sprint speed, average speed, segments, and movement heat maps via the companion app. On the other hand, the badminton mode delves into swing count, swing speed, shot power, forehand/backhand ratio, and stroke types like smashes and clears. Therefore, the Watch 6 is more specialized compared to standard fitness watches.
Additional offerings
Honor is also emphasizing blood pressure trend monitoring, a Quick Health Scan feature, morning health reports, and its Intelligent Sense System for health tracking. The company specifies that the watch is not a medical device, meaning these features are designed for general health management rather than for diagnostic purposes.
The Watch 6 supports NFC payments through Fidesmo, with support for Mastercard and Visa varying by region. Currently, the UK page indicates it is coming soon, alongside early-bird voucher offers, but final pricing is not yet clearly stated. Unfortunately, pricing remains unknown, although availability in the EU and UK has been confirmed.
