Apple Intelligence is arriving on Safari, featuring more intelligent tabs, personalized extensions, and improvements to password management.
Safari receives a significant AI enhancement aimed at improving productivity and privacy
Apple is introducing a new set of Apple Intelligence features to Safari, and unlike some AI announcements that appear to be solutions in search of problems, these enhancements seem genuinely useful. Unveiled at WWDC 2026, Apple showcased several AI-driven tools for Safari, such as automatic tab organization, natural language-based custom extension creation, webpage monitoring, and automatic password updates.
AI capabilities now allow Safari to organize tabs, generate extensions, and manage passwords
One of the most noteworthy features is the AI-driven tab organization. As previously reported, Safari now has the ability to evaluate open web pages, recognize related content, and automatically categorize tabs into themes. The browser will continue to add relevant tabs to these categories as users navigate, simplifying the management of the many tabs most of us intend to revisit later.

Additionally, Apple is rolling out a new feature called “Notify Me.” Instead of having to refresh a page repeatedly while waiting for product availability, ticket sales, or registrations to open, users can simply inform Safari what they are looking out for using natural language. Safari will monitor the page in the background and send alerts when the specified change occurs.

Another intriguing feature is “Describe an Extension,” which enables users to create custom Safari extensions using natural language prompts. Apple demonstrated how a user could directly add personalized recipe-rating tools to web pages without needing to write any code.

Furthermore, Safari is improving its integration with the Passwords app. Leveraging Apple Intelligence, users will be able to update eligible accounts to stronger passwords with just one tap. Safari can then securely navigate websites, log in, and seamlessly complete the password update process.
Apple's AI approach now seems much more practical
What stands out in this update is Apple's shift away from flashy AI demonstrations toward alleviating everyday frustrations. Organizing browser tabs, tracking webpage changes, and updating weak passwords are common challenges that most people dislike tackling.
Apple highlighted its commitment to privacy during the announcement, assuring that Safari processes this information without sharing sensitive browsing data with Apple itself. While the actual functionality needs to be tested for smooth operation, on the surface, this might be one of the most valuable Apple Intelligence updates announced so far.
