Cash App has introduced a wand for payments, as scanning and tapping on phones have become quite dull.
Cash App has introduced an NFC-enabled wand that allows users to tap and pay at any contactless terminal.
Contactless payments are convenient, but have you ever imagined purchasing your coffee with a magical wand?
Cash App, the digital payment service operated by Block, has officially released the Cash App Wand—a pearlescent, star-shaped keychain accessory equipped with NFC technology that enables tap-to-pay functionality at any contactless terminal. This real product retails for $25 and is currently available for purchase through the app for Cash App Card users.
So, how does this enchanting wand function?
The Cash App Wand represents the inaugural item in a new hardware series known as Cash App Tags. These are NFC-enabled physical devices that don't require a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection for operation. To set up the wand, simply position it against the back of your phone, and it will connect directly to your Cash App account.
After setup, it functions like a debit card, but instead of fitting in your wallet, it attaches to your keychain or handbag like a charm. According to Block’s hardware lead, Thomas Templeton, the concept aims to make payments more visible, enjoyable, and expressive.
He notes that digital payments have rendered purchases nearly invisible, with Cash App cards spending 90% of their time in users' pockets. Cash App hopes the wand will be the primary tool you grab when it’s time to make a payment.
This marks the start of Cash App Tags
The wand is just the first of many unique tap-to-pay hardware items that are set to be released. Limited editions of new Cash App Tag designs will be available to Cash App cardholders in the upcoming weeks, with broader access expected later this summer.
Whether you want a wand to pay for your coffee or simply wish to feel like a wizard when you check out, Cash App has you covered.
Additionally, if a magic wand isn't enough to increase your spending, Google is streamlining online checkout by eliminating OTPs and replacing them with a straightforward biometric check.

While we spend January organizing our physical spaces—clearing closets, tidying garages, and upgrading our gym gear—we often neglect our digital lives, leaving them in a state of disarray. Using the same password for multiple accounts or depending on a browser to remember your banking information isn't just dangerous; it’s careless.
