Bowers & Wilkins unveils the revamped 800 Series Diamond D5 range at HIGH END Vienna.
Bowers & Wilkins has introduced the new 800 Series Diamond D5 loudspeakers, celebrating the British audio company's 60th anniversary with what it describes as its most sophisticated speaker lineup to date. Unveiled at HIGH END Vienna 2026, this flagship series comes with significant acoustic, mechanical, and aesthetic enhancements designed for audiophiles and studio experts looking for reference-level sound quality.
The D5 lineup replaces the previous D4 series and marks the fifth generation of Bowers & Wilkins speakers equipped with the brand’s signature Diamond Dome tweeter technology. It features seven models, ranging from the compact 805 D5 stand-mount speaker to the premium 801 D5 floorstanding variant, as well as specialized home theater center-channel options. Prices begin at £10,000 for the 805 D5 and reach £43,000 for the flagship 801 D5.
A luxurious redesign focused on engineering
According to Bowers & Wilkins, the new 800 Series Diamond D5 has been entirely re-engineered with both performance and craftsmanship in mind. The company has launched four new finishes—Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut, and Dark Walnut—while incorporating tighter production tolerances and more sophisticated cabinet designs.
The speakers showcase concealed fixings, minimized panel gaps, and enhanced painting processes aimed at achieving a more seamless, premium aesthetic. The new Dark Walnut finish, inspired by the limited-edition 801 Abbey Road model, combines dark metallic accents with Connolly leather trim for an elevated look.
Every speaker in the series continues to be handcrafted in Worthing, UK, showcasing Bowers & Wilkins’ dedication to precision engineering and high-quality manufacturing.
Innovative acoustic technologies for cleaner, more precise sound
The most significant advancements, however, are found internally. Bowers & Wilkins has rolled out several new technologies focused on reducing vibrations, minimizing distortion, and enhancing sound staging. A key feature is the new “Space Frame Bracing” system, which strengthens the speaker cabinets with aluminum rails to limit resonance and cabinet noise.
Additionally, the company has revamped the aluminum top plates, improved the Matrix bracing system, and incorporated tuned-mass damping in the plinths of floorstanding models to enhance stability and acoustic isolation.
Among the notable upgrades is an entirely new aluminum midrange enclosure for the 804 D5, adapted from the more prominent Turbine Head structure used in higher-end models. Bowers & Wilkins asserts that this improvement facilitates a more open and expansive sound experience while maintaining a slimmer cabinet profile.
The 800 Series Diamond D5 range will officially hit the market on September 9, following its global launch at HIGH END Vienna on June 4.
