      AMD has officially launched the Radeon RX 9070 GRE globally during Computex 2026. Initially unveiled in China in May 2025, this marks an expanded release rather than the introduction of a brand-new graphics card.

      Starting June 2, it will be offered by partner manufacturers in both reference and overclocked editions, with a suggested retail price of $549.

      AMD is targeting 1440p gamers with this model.

      The RX 9070 GRE features 48 RDNA 4 compute units, 48 ray accelerators, 96 AI accelerators, and 3,072 stream processors. It is equipped with 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus, boasting a memory bandwidth of up to 432GB/s and 48MB of Infinity Cache. AMD specifies a game clock of 2,220MHz, while the boost clock can reach up to 2.79GHz. It requires two 8-pin power connectors and has a typical board power of 220W.

      AMD asserts that this card is, on average, 21% faster than its competitor (RTX 5060 Ti 16GB) at 1440p. The company’s benchmarks for 1440p Ultra indicate performance of 100fps in Arc Raiders, 115fps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, 82fps in The Last of Us Part 2, 86fps in Horizon Forbidden West, 108fps in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and 100fps in Ghost of Tsushima. With ray tracing activated, AMD reports 144fps in Forza Horizon 5 and 116fps in Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. These tests were performed on a rig featuring a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, 32 GB DDR5-6000 memory, and an X870E motherboard.

      The $549 price tag could be a significant issue.

      On paper, the RX 9070 GRE appears to be a strong choice for high-refresh 1440p gaming. However, the real question remains whether gamers will find enough value at $549.

      In a Reddit thread on r/radeon, several users expressed skepticism about the pricing. Some believed the card is too similar to the standard RX 9070, particularly with its 12GB of VRAM. Others suggested it would be more reasonable priced at around $449 or $499.

      This factor could be crucial for the RX 9070 GRE's success. While the performance claims are promising, its attractiveness will likely hinge on how closely retail prices adhere to AMD’s suggested price. It’s also important to note that the RX 9070 was originally launched at an MSRP of $549 last year, indicating that AMD might announce an official price increase for this card soon.
