AMD's Radeon RX 9070 GRE boasts impressive capabilities for 1440p gaming, but the $549 price tag might prove to be a tough sell.

      Radeon RX 9070 GRE now available globally after its debut in China

      The Radeon RX 9070 GRE has officially launched worldwide at Computex 2026. AMD initially showcased the RDNA 4-based GPU in China in May 2025, making this a broader distribution rather than a fresh graphics card.

      It will be accessible through board partners starting June 2, in both reference and overclocked variants, with an MSRP of $549.

      AMD is targeting gamers who play at 1440p.

      The RX 9070 GRE features 48 RDNA 4 compute units, 48 ray accelerators, 96 AI accelerators, and 3,072 stream processors. It includes 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus, providing up to 432GB/s memory bandwidth and 48MB of Infinity Cache. The game clock is listed at 2,220MHz, while the boost clock can reach 2.79GHz. It requires two 8-pin power connectors and has a typical board power of 220W.

      AMD asserts that the card is, on average, 21% faster than competing models (such as the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB) at 1440p. Its own benchmarks for 1440p Ultra include 100fps in Arc Raiders, 115fps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, 82fps in The Last of Us Part 2, 86fps in Horizon Forbidden West, 108fps in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and 100fps in Ghost of Tsushima. With ray tracing activated, the card achieves 144fps in Forza Horizon 5 and 116fps in Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. AMD notes that these tests were performed on a setup with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, 32 GB DDR5-6000 memory, and an X870E motherboard.

      The $549 price may be a key consideration.

      On paper, the RX 9070 GRE appears to be a strong choice for high-refresh 1440p gaming. However, whether gamers perceive enough value at $549 remains to be seen.

      In a Reddit thread on r/radeon, some users expressed doubts about the pricing. Some felt the card is too similar to the standard RX 9070, especially given its 12GB of VRAM. Others suggested a price point closer to $449 or $499 would be more reasonable.

      This could ultimately influence the RX 9070 GRE's success. While performance claims are impressive, its attractiveness will likely hinge on how closely retail prices align with AMD's suggested pricing. It's also noteworthy that the RX 9070 was launched with an MSRP of $549 last year, suggesting that AMD might soon announce a price increase for this card.
