Xiaomi could be looking to adopt Samsung's anti-snoop feature, but without the costly display technology.
Software innovation may extend the S26 Ultra's Privacy Display to Xiaomi devices.
Recent reports suggest that Samsung's Privacy Display feature may not stay exclusive for much longer. A leak indicates that Xiaomi is developing a new function that aims to replicate the software and hardware capabilities of the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Tipster Yogesh Brar mentioned that a new anti-snoop technology is in progress, expected to be included with Xiaomi's HyperOS 4 later this year.

Xiaomi might offer a more affordable option.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra incorporates a hardware-based Privacy Display powered by Flex Magic Pixel technology, which Samsung claims manages light emission to make the screen hard to read from an angle while remaining clear for the person viewing it directly.
Conversely, Xiaomi's anticipated implementation seems to differ. Since the feature is set to launch with HyperOS 4 (based on Android 17), it will likely rely on software solutions. This could make it less sophisticated compared to Samsung's pixel-specific technology but simpler to distribute across various devices.
Samsung maintains a technical advantage.

A software-focused privacy mode would likely have notable limitations. It might not narrow viewing angles as effectively as Samsung’s hardware technology. Although this could be beneficial initially, it may ultimately affect the overall user experience.
Samsung retains a competitive edge, as its Privacy Display can reduce viewing angles through specialized screen technology applied to either the entire display or specific portions. It's important to note that this is currently just an unverified leak, with Xiaomi yet to make any announcements. However, it aligns with recent reports indicating that Chinese smartphone manufacturers are testing "spy screens."
