**Quick Overview**
If you're looking for a way to navigate the city or enjoy outdoor adventures, the Gotrax Mustang is a fantastic option. With its suspension system and fat tires, it delivers a comfortable and stable ride. It can reach speeds of up to 25 mph, which can be quite exciting, and has a range of up to 85 miles, sufficient for a day out for many users.
When the battery is depleted, it takes five to six hours to recharge, but you can also replace it with a spare. I tested the Gotrax Mustang on bike trails, rural roads, and city streets. The throttle feature was particularly useful for commuting, making it easier to manage various conditions. The bike also has a fashionable design, with a frame that resembles a moped, blurring the line between a bicycle and a motor vehicle. Overall, it is quite impressive.

**Gotrax Mustang Design and Build: Striking, but requires some assembly**
As with most eBikes, the Gotrax Mustang does not arrive fully assembled. You will need to attach the front handlebars, front wheel, pedals, and fenders yourself. This task is relatively simple, and I completed most of it with the included toolkit, rarely needing to consult the manual. Connecting the wires was straightforward, although caution is necessary when installing the front wheel to ensure the brake caliper aligns properly with the brake disk; excessive force can damage these components.
A minor issue arose when the factory tightened the screw for the front fender too much, making it impossible to unscrew it with the provided toolkit. The toolkit, which was basically a set of Allen wrenches, deteriorated by the end of assembly, and applying significant torque could have ruined it.
I ultimately used my reliable 18V Makita to unscrew it, which required some effort. However, this minor setback didn't significantly hinder the assembly process. The entire setup took approximately two hours, but I could have finished faster had I used the Makita from the beginning.
**It's a very good-looking bike**
Once assembled, the Mustang showcases an appealing design. Without the pedals, it could easily be mistaken for a compact bike from the 1960s. The moped-style frame contributes to its rigidity, stability, and comfort. The large front shocks not only add to its aesthetics but also significantly enhance ride comfort. I've navigated poorly maintained roads, potholes, debris, and various obstacles without significant issues. The fat tires also add to both comfort and stability.
While riding in inclement weather is generally unpleasant, I felt safer on the Mustang. I rode through heavy rain and, despite being soaked due to my clothing choices, the bike maintained a firm grip and stability. The deep treads on the tires performed well.
However, the considerable gap in the frame feels like a missed opportunity. While a small basket is available (though not included with my unit), I believe more innovative storage solutions could be developed for that space. At a minimum, it would be useful to have a spot to store a lock and chain along with a small toolkit.
**Build Rating: 8/10**
**Gotrax Mustang Ride Experience: Exceptionally fun**
There are numerous reasons to consider an eBike, but many people opt for the more practical benefits. While it’s a great option for commuting and can aid in fitness, it’s also incredibly enjoyable.
After assembling the bike, I had a short window of time to test it, so I took it out for a 20-minute spin around the neighborhood. The sense of freedom I felt was reminiscent of being 14 again. Although 20 mph might not seem fast, when paired with winding streets, it feels thrilling. Those initial rides allowed me to appreciate beautiful sights along
