Anker's Soundcore Liberty 5 earbuds utilize AI to address the biggest drawback of wireless earbuds.
Anker has introduced two new pairs of earbuds to its audio collection, named the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max. The original Liberty 5 garnered positive feedback in our review, where we commended Soundcore for successfully addressing most fundamental features, even though its pricing faced competition from lower-cost alternatives.
Now, Anker is advancing the Liberty 5 series into a more AI-centered direction, utilizing the Thus AI chip to enhance call clarity, improve noise cancellation, execute voice commands, facilitate translations, and produce transcripts and meeting summaries.
Anker is leveraging AI to enhance call quality.
A key improvement is the new Thus AI chip integrated into both Liberty 5 Pro variants. This technology utilizes eight microphones and two bone-conduction sensors, alongside an AI model, to filter the user's voice from background disturbances such as traffic, wind, and office noise.
Soundcore has announced that the Liberty 5 Pro achieved a Guinness World Records certification in April 2026 for possessing the highest speech quality score among true wireless earbuds. Since the Liberty 5 Pro Max employs the same earbud units, the call performance is expected to be comparable across both versions.
The AI system also enhances noise cancellation capabilities. Both earbuds are equipped with Adaptive ANC 4.0, which can analyze noise data up to 384,000 times per second and adjust in real-time. Soundcore claims it effectively mitigates noise from urban environments, subways, and workplaces. Furthermore, the Thus chip provides 20 built-in voice commands, enabling users to control playback, volume, and ANC settings without needing their phones.
The Pro Max case functions as an AI note-taker.
The Liberty 5 Pro Max features a significantly upgraded case, now equipped with a 1.78-inch AMOLED display and an AI Note-Taker that can record meetings and conversations. The accompanying Soundcore app is capable of creating transcripts, summaries, speaker identifications, and action items.
Both models also offer translation support in over 100 languages. On the Liberty 5 Pro, translations are handled through the earbuds, while the Liberty 5 Pro Max allows for translation through both the earbuds and the case.
The standard Liberty 5 Pro is designed with a smaller 0.96-inch TFT touchscreen for toggling ANC modes, utilizing transparency controls, enabling Dolby Atmos, and adjusting EQ settings. Both versions also incorporate HearID 5.0, which generates a personalized EQ profile after a brief hearing assessment.
Key specifications include 9.2mm wool-paper diaphragm drivers, Bluetooth 6.1, LDAC compatibility, tri-device pairing, Google Fast Pair, Apple Find My support, IP55 dust and water protection, wireless charging, and up to 6.5 hours of battery life with ANC active, or 28 hours with the case. The Liberty 5 Pro is priced at $169.99, while the Liberty 5 Pro Max is available for $229.99.
