Anker's Soundcore Liberty 5 earbuds utilize artificial intelligence to address the biggest drawback of wireless earbuds.

      Anker has introduced two new earbuds to its audio range, the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max. The standard Liberty 5 had already made a notable impact in our review, where we commended Soundcore for successfully addressing most of the fundamental aspects, despite its pricing facing challenges from more affordable competitors.

      Now, Anker is advancing the Liberty 5 series into a more AI-centric area, utilizing the Thus AI chip to enhance call clarity, improve noise cancellation, facilitate voice commands, translations, transcripts, and meeting summaries.

      Anker is employing AI to enhance call quality.

      The primary enhancement is Anker's new Thus AI chip, found in both Liberty 5 Pro models. This chip works alongside eight microphones and two bone-conduction sensors, as well as an AI model, to distinguish the user’s voice from surrounding sounds like traffic, wind, and office noise.

      Soundcore claims that the Liberty 5 Pro received a Guinness World Records certification in April 2026 for achieving the highest speech quality score among true wireless earbuds. Since the Liberty 5 Pro Max uses the same earbud components, the calling performance should be comparable in both models.

      This AI system also enhances noise cancellation capabilities. Both earbuds are equipped with Adaptive ANC 4.0, which analyzes noise data up to 384,000 times per second and adapts in real-time. Soundcore reports that it can diminish noise from urban environments, public transit, and workplace settings. Additionally, the Thus chip supports 20 integrated voice commands, enabling users to manage playback, volume, and ANC settings without needing their phone.

      The Pro Max case serves as an AI notetaker.

      The Liberty 5 Pro Max features a more substantial case upgrade, including a 1.78-inch AMOLED display and an AI Note-Taker that can capture meetings and conversations. The Soundcore app can then produce transcripts, summaries, speaker identifications, and action items.

      Both models also facilitate translation in over 100 languages. For the Liberty 5 Pro, translation happens through the earbuds, while the Liberty 5 Pro Max allows translation through both the earbuds and the case.

      The standard Liberty 5 Pro is equipped with a smaller 0.96-inch TFT touchscreen for switching ANC modes, employing transparency controls, activating Dolby Atmos, and adjusting EQ settings. Both models are also compatible with HearID 5.0, which generates a custom EQ profile following a brief hearing assessment.

      Key specifications include 9.2mm wool-paper diaphragm drivers, Bluetooth 6.1, LDAC support, the ability to pair with three devices, Google Fast Pair, Apple Find My, IP55 dust and water resistance, wireless charging, and up to 6.5 hours of battery life with ANC enabled, or 28 hours with the case. The Liberty 5 Pro is priced at $169.99, while the Liberty 5 Pro Max is available for $229.99.
