Anker’s Soundcore Liberty 5 earbuds utilize AI to tackle the biggest issue with wireless earbuds.

      Anker has introduced two new earbuds to its audio selection, named the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max. The original Liberty 5 had already made a notable impact in our review, where we commended Soundcore for effectively addressing most fundamental aspects, despite its pricing being challenged by cheaper competitors.

      Now, Anker is advancing the Liberty 5 series into a more AI-centric domain, utilizing the Thus AI chip to enhance call clarity, improve noise cancellation, enable voice commands, facilitate translation, create transcripts, and summarize meetings.

      The primary enhancement is the introduction of Anker’s new Thus AI chip, featured in both Liberty 5 Pro versions. This chip collaborates with eight microphones and two bone-conduction sensors, alongside an AI model, to distinguish the user's voice from surrounding sounds such as traffic, wind, and office noise.

      Soundcore claims that the Liberty 5 Pro was certified by Guinness World Records in April 2026 for achieving the highest speech quality score among true wireless earbuds. Since the Liberty 5 Pro Max utilizes the same earbud units, the call performance is expected to be consistent across both variants.

      Additionally, the AI system improves noise cancellation capabilities. Both earbuds feature Adaptive ANC 4.0, which analyzes noise data up to 384,000 times per second and makes real-time adjustments. Soundcore asserts that it effectively diminishes noise from streets, subways, and workplaces. The Thus chip further facilitates 20 built-in voice commands, enabling users to manage playback, volume, and ANC modes without needing to reach for their phones.

      The Pro Max case also functions as an AI note-taker.

      The Liberty 5 Pro Max features a larger case upgrade, incorporating a 1.78-inch AMOLED display and an AI Note-Taker capable of recording meetings and conversations. The accompanying Soundcore app can subsequently generate transcripts, summaries, speaker identification, and action items.

      Both models provide translation support in over 100 languages. In the Liberty 5 Pro, translation occurs through the earbuds, while the Liberty 5 Pro Max enhances this by allowing translation through both the earbuds and the case.

      The standard Liberty 5 Pro is equipped with a smaller 0.96-inch TFT touchscreen for switching ANC modes, managing transparency settings, activating Dolby Atmos, and modifying EQ settings. Both models also offer HearID 5.0, which creates a personalized EQ profile following a brief hearing test.

      Key specifications include 9.2mm wool-paper diaphragm drivers, Bluetooth 6.1, LDAC compatibility, the ability to pair with three devices, Google Fast Pair, Apple Find My, IP55 dust and water resistance, wireless charging, and up to 6.5 hours of battery life with ANC active, or 28 hours with the charging case. The Liberty 5 Pro is priced at $169.99, while the Liberty 5 Pro Max is available for $229.99.
