Google showcases Android audio glasses created in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

Created in partnership with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, the smart glasses are set to launch later this year.

At the I/O 2026 Developer Conference, Google introduced the upcoming Gemini-powered Intelligent Eyewear. Built on the Android XR stack, these glasses are the result of collaboration with Samsung and Qualcomm, with design elements derived from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. This partnership is reminiscent of Meta's collaboration with Ray-Ban, which later included Oakley.

Google refers to them as audio glasses since they lack a built-in screen, and most interactions will occur via voice and audio commands. The glasses feature two front-facing cameras for capturing images and perceiving the environment. Based on what the Gemini sees through the cameras, you can ask questions.

For instance, you can simply gaze at a restaurant and query Gemini about its reviews or request directions. Navigation is a significant aspect of these smart glasses, and Google claims you will receive turn-by-turn navigation instructions through natural language conversations. Additionally, these glasses will enable you to manage text messages, accept phone calls, and listen to summarized messages.

An intriguing feature demonstrated by Google at the I/O 2026 event was the ability to capture and edit photos in real time. After taking a picture, you can call upon Gemini to make playful edits. The edits are performed by the Gemini Nano Banana engine, and once completed, you will receive an update on your mobile device or companion smartwatch with a preview of the edited image.

Moreover, these smart glasses will assist with real-time translations and background task management. With their agentic capabilities, you can prompt Gemini to place food or grocery orders. Afterwards, you can confirm the completion of the task.

Another notable feature is the compatibility with third-party applications, allowing you to book a cab via Uber, with plans to support additional apps and services in the future. Importantly, despite operating on the Android XR platform, these smart glasses, designed by Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, will also be compatible with iPhones.

Google and Xreal’s Project Aura smart glasses are scheduled to be released later this year.

The Xreal Project Aura smart glasses include built-in display units and support Android apps. Google is developing a variety of smart glasses, with the first ones based on the Android XR platform from Samsung expected to debut around July. The market is about to become quite competitive. At the I/O 2026 Developers Conference, Google also unveiled a new series of audio glasses created in collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster.

However, the highlight is the Xreal Project Aura smart glasses, which support full hand gestures and offer a mixed reality view for Android apps available through the Play Store. Initially revealed in December 2025, Xreal confirmed today that the Project Aura smart glasses will be available in 2026.

In other news, Sony has launched the 1000X Collexion headphones, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its renowned 1000X series. Priced at $649.99, these headphones combine metal and leather for a luxurious appearance without compromising on audio quality.

The newly launched 1000X THE COLLEXION noise-canceling headphones resemble the standard WH-1000XM6 model but are designed differently and come with a premium price tag. They are available in platinum and black variations.

Marshall has released the Milton ANC headphones, priced at $229, which boast a replaceable battery, adaptive ANC, LDAC, and an impressive 80 hours of battery life. Known for their vintage rock concert aesthetic, the Milton ANC continues this trend while offering competitive features for the price. Announced on May 19, 2026, these headphones are Marshall’s first on-ear model with adaptive noise cancellation, positioned between the Major V ($149) and the Monitor III ANC ($349) in their product lineup.
