Bid farewell to the frustration of searching for broken drivers after a problematic Windows update.
It appears that Microsoft is delivering on its commitment to enhance Windows 11. Following the introduction of a new low-latency mode that quickens app launches and an update that resolves the RAM memory leak issue, the tech giant is currently testing a new feature aimed at tackling one of its major challenges.
This new feature, named Cloud-Initiated Driver Recovery, can automatically revert a faulty driver that was installed on your PC via Windows Update.
Presently, if a problematic driver is installed through Windows Update, you are left waiting for the hardware partner to issue a fix or must manually roll it back. If you're unsure where to find the solution, your PC could remain stuck with that faulty driver for an extended time.
With this upcoming update, that concern will be eliminated. Windows 11 will automatically revert to the functional driver through its update system.
How does it function?
When a driver is identified as having quality issues during Microsoft’s internal evaluation process, the company can now initiate a recovery action directly from the cloud. It sends a rollback instruction through the existing Windows Update system, uninstalls the faulty driver, and reinstates the last working version.

All of this happens automatically in the background, requiring no action on your part. Microsoft has also specified that hardware partners do not have to take any steps. The recovery process is managed entirely by Microsoft. While partners will be informed if a driver is rejected, the resolution occurs without their involvement.
What does this mean for typical Windows users?
It signifies one less concern. Driver issues resulting from Windows Updates are one of the more exasperating problems for users, and many are unsure how to resolve them. This feature discreetly manages it for you.
Microsoft states that the feature is currently undergoing testing with hardware partners and will start rolling out gradually in September.
