Dell broadens its AI PC range with the introduction of the new sleek Dell 14s and 16s laptops.
Dell has launched the new Dell 14S and Dell 16S laptops, enhancing its AI-centered Copilot+ PC series with sleeker designs, updated Intel processors, and extended battery life. The company is marketing both laptops as premium productivity devices that integrate AI features, portability, and multimedia functions in a more streamlined form.
The new models are equipped with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, reaching up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H chipset. Dell claims both devices feature on-device AI acceleration with performance of up to 50 TOPS NPU, enabling AI tasks to be executed locally without full dependence on cloud processing. Variants with AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series are anticipated to be available later this month.
Dell 14s emphasizes portability and battery longevity
The Dell 14S is aimed at users seeking a more compact solution. It boasts a slim 15.3mm metal chassis and a starting weight of 1.45kg. According to Dell, this laptop offers up to 97 percent improved multitasking performance compared to its predecessor.
Dell 16s targets multimedia and larger screens
The Dell 16S shares much of the hardware framework with the 14S but is more geared towards users who prioritize multimedia and larger displays. It has a starting weight of 1.76kg and caters to those who prefer a bigger screen for entertainment, editing, and multitasking.
Dell asserts that the 16S delivers up to 59 percent greater multitasking performance compared to the previous model. Additionally, it claims the laptop can provide up to 26 hours of battery life for streaming and up to 14 hours of productivity use.
Display and audio capabilities
Both laptops feature various display configurations, such as FHD+, QHD+, and OLED options. The premium panels support refresh rates up to 120Hz, Dolby Vision, and offer up to 100 percent DCI-P3 color coverage in OLED models. Brightness can reach as high as 500 nits on select variants.
Dell has incorporated ComfortView and ComfortView Plus technologies to help reduce eye strain during prolonged use. For audio, both laptops include Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers paired with Smart Amplifier technology. Dell claims these systems are designed to provide clearer dialogue and more balanced sound quality despite their thin profiles.
AI Features and Environmental Responsibility
The Dell 14S and 16S are classified as Copilot+ PCs, meaning they are compatible with Microsoft’s latest AI-driven Windows features operating directly on the device. Dell notes that AI capabilities can enhance video calls, improve responsiveness, and boost system efficiency while minimizing battery consumption.
The company is also focusing on sustainability, with both laptops constructed from recycled aluminum and plastics, along with environmentally friendly packaging materials.
Pricing and Availability
The Dell 14S is priced from $1,269.99 in the US, while the Dell 16S starts at $1,319.99. Variants featuring AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series for both models are expected to launch later this month.
