This excessively designed smartwatch features two cameras and transforms into an action camera.
Huawei's latest children's smartwatch is essentially a miniature action camera in disguise.
The Huawei Watch Kids X1 Pro is an impressively engineered gadget designed specifically for kids. It features a detachable design, dual cameras, location tracking, video calling, parental controls, and a variety of camera functionalities, resembling a small action camera worn on the wrist.
The smartwatch's camera capabilities are particularly noteworthy. It is equipped with a 5-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera, allowing it to rotate 360 degrees and stand upright for easy adjustments during selfies, group shots, and video calls. The camera can also be detached from the band and placed into a provided camera case, transforming it into a compact camera.
Huawei claims the front camera is the first of its kind in this category, offering a 110-degree ultra-wide-angle view, which should facilitate group photos on the watch's 1.82-inch AMOLED display. It features timer modes, 14 sets of filters, and over 100 stickers, although the filter functionality will be added through an OTA update.
In terms of storage, the watch boasts 64GB of internal memory, sufficient for storing over 5,000 HD images, depending on space and file size.
Despite its camera features, this smartwatch is fundamentally intended for children. It includes a robust positioning system with five modes of dual-band satellite tracking, base station tracking, dual-band Wi-Fi positioning, sensor-assisted positioning, and SOS location functions. Parents can establish safe zones and receive alerts when their children enter or exit specific areas.
The SOS function allows children to send an emergency message or make a call by pressing the side button five times, though a SIM card is required. The watch supports global 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity, along with voice calls, photo messages, and Huawei MeeTime. Additionally, the Watch Kids X1 Pro features continuous heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, emotional health suggestions, app blocking, sleep mode, and automatic call or text rejection for unknown numbers.
Other key features include an 850mAh battery with magnetic charging, an IPX9 + IPX8 rating, and a 2ATM water resistance rating. While Huawei has previously produced notable smartwatches with advanced health tracking capabilities, this model appears to function more like a diminutive GoPro for children's activities.
