RingConn's Gen 3 smart ring is now available, featuring haptic notifications and a battery life of 14 days.
The smart ring is now available for pre-order, starting at $314.
After showcasing its next-generation smart ring at CES in January, RingConn has officially released the Gen 3. To launch the product, the company is offering a pre-order discount, with prices beginning at $314 until May 28, after which it will increase to $349. Notably, there are no subscription fees associated with this device, which is significant given the rise of recurring charges in the market.
Haptic alerts and extended battery life
The RingConn Gen 3 includes features highlighted at CES, such as a built-in vibration motor that can notify users of events like elevated heart rates, achievement of step goals, or low battery levels. This addition is remarkable for a device that has traditionally been passive; however, it is important to note that haptic alerts do not support calls, texts, or app notifications.
The ring weighs between 2.5 and 3.5 grams, depending on size, and RingConn claims a battery life of up to 14 days with vibration deactivated. This surpasses Samsung’s Galaxy Ring, which offers around 7 days of battery life at a similar weight. The sizes range from 6 to 15, and the ring is available in five finishes: Future Silver, Royal Gold, Matte Black, Brushed Silver, and Brushed Rose Gold.
Blood pressure monitoring is forthcoming, but not yet available
Blood pressure monitoring was a significant feature when RingConn first unveiled the Gen 3 in January, but it will not be available at launch. According to RingConn, this feature will be introduced via a future software update.
Once implemented, it will estimate blood pressure risk using a combination of heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature, and motion data rather than providing a direct measurement. The company has emphasized that this is a tool for pattern analysis, not a substitute for medical devices.
If you're in search of a smart ring that can effectively capture your attention, the Gen 3 is worth considering, keeping in mind that one of its main features is not yet available.
