Motorola's upcoming budget smartphone has been revealed in two Pantone colors and is set to feature a 200MP camera.
The Moto G87's 200MP camera is a significant upgrade, but combining it with a lower-tier chipset compared to its predecessor and at a higher price is somewhat disappointing.

The Moto G87 has recently been showcased online, thanks to tipster Evan Blass, who shared high-quality renders of the upcoming Motorola mid-range phone on X (formerly Twitter). This provides the clearest view of the device before its official announcement.
Based on last week's price leaks and today's renders, it appears that the Moto G87 is preparing for a European launch soon, likely within the next few weeks. The renders display the phone in two colors: dark gray, which the company might call Pantone Overture Gray, and a bright blue or cyan shade referred to as Pantone Blue Atoll.
What do the Moto G87 renders show?
The smartphone’s design maintains the classic G-series styling. The front features a flat display with a punch-hole cutout, and while the edges are slightly rounded for better grip, there's a prominent square camera module on the back that spans more than half the width of the device.
In addition to the aforementioned colors, the Moto G87 may come in four other shades: Arctic Seal, Black Olive, Nile, and Shaded Spruce (though these may not be official names).
In terms of specifications, the G87 is expected to feature a 200MP primary camera (with OIS), a significant leap from the 50MP primary camera found in last year’s G86. The second camera module (visible in the renders) may be an ultrawide camera, while the third could serve as a depth sensor rather than a functional camera.

Is there a downside to consider?
Yes, and it's significant. While the Moto G86 utilized the Dimensity 7300 chip, a reliable mid-range processor, the Moto G87 will likely downgrade to the Dimensity 6000-series, with leaked firmware suggesting the MT6835 platform, which may correspond to the Dimensity 6500 chipset.
Regardless of whether it's the Dimensity 6500 or another chip within that series, it will be a clear step down from the Dimensity 7300.
Moreover, the phone could be priced about €40-€50 higher than its predecessor, potentially reaching around €400, and even then, consumers may not experience any performance improvements.
