Your Google TV experience is set to become more dynamic with a specific YouTube Shorts feed.
Google is asserting its presence on the home screen of your living room, anticipating that the vertical video habit you've established on your phone is ready to transition to your largest screen at home.
The company's vision for your living room TV now includes short-form vertical video. Earlier today, Google introduced a series of updates for Google TV, highlighted by a new "Short videos for you" row that will be added to the home screen this summer.
This new feature will be directly visible on the Google TV home screen, appearing as a tailored feed of YouTube Shorts based on your viewing history, without the need to launch an app.
Can the new YouTube Shorts row on Google TV be disabled?
Google indicates that this feature will expand to include more than just Shorts in the future, with Instagram Reels being a probable addition. However, currently, only the integration of YouTube Shorts has been officially confirmed. This rollout will be limited to devices in the U.S. starting this summer.
What may raise concerns for Google TV users is that there’s no confirmed method to hide or turn off the short-video row. Additionally, Google has not clarifying how advertisements within the feed will be managed or if they will be subject to parental controls.
In my opinion, this integration appears to be more focused on broadening advertising space rather than enhancing convenience. By placing a Shorts feed on the home screen, ads are placed directly in your living room, a space previously dominated by traditional broadcast and cable. I wouldn’t go so far as to consider the lack of opt-out options a deliberate strategy, though.
What other features are coming to Google TV?
Aside from that, Google has rolled out its AI image generation platform, Nano Banana, and its AI video generation platform, Veo, on Gemini-enabled TCL Google TVs in the U.S. starting today. These tools will be available through a new Create button in the Gemini tab.
Google Photos will also receive three new upgrades: Gemini-powered voice search for locating specific images, a Remix feature that applies artistic styles such as watercolor or oil painting to photos, and Dynamic Slideshows that include animated screensavers created from any album. This particular feature is being rolled out globally to eligible devices with at least 2GB of RAM.

Following the launch of the Osmo Pocket 4, the company has released the Mic Mini 2, which is a sequel to the original Mic Mini introduced in November 2024. The standout feature? You can now personalize your microphone’s appearance with interchangeable magnetic covers.
YouTube TV custom multiview allows you to pair NFL Sunday Ticket with any channel
YouTube TV's Custom Multiview is more than just an upgrade; it's a shift in control from the service to the user regarding simultaneous viewing choices.
While YouTube TV's multiview feature has been a great concept, it previously was restricted by a frustrating limitation: Google dictated what you watched, rather than giving you control. This changed on April 28, 2026, when YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the full launch of the custom multiview feature, allowing subscribers the freedom to create their own multi-screen viewing experience from any live channel.
