Oppo Find X9 Ultra arrives with camera capabilities that Apple and Samsung would likely avoid attempting.
Oppo has unveiled the Find X9 Ultra, and at first glance, it embodies the features one would anticipate from a flagship Ultra phone in 2026. It boasts a large high-end display, the latest Snapdragon processor, an impressive battery, rapid wired and wireless charging, strong durability ratings, and a host of AI-enhanced software features that are standard with premium Android devices these days. In short, it covers all the essential aspects and more.
However, the standout feature of the Find X9 Ultra is its photography capabilities. Unlike Apple, Samsung, and Google, who have been refining their established camera systems, Oppo has taken a more bold approach by creating something far more innovative.
First, the "standard" details
The Find X9 Ultra features a 6.82-inch 144Hz QHD+ AMOLED display that can reach up to 3,600 nits in HDR and dim down to 1 nit for low-light use. Oppo claims that its Display P3 Pro chip and improved luminescent materials enhance color accuracy, reduce power consumption, and minimize motion blur.
Internally, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with an advanced vapor chamber and an Encapsulated Thermal Unit to ensure consistent performance, even during demanding tasks like 8K video recording.
Battery performance should also be stellar, as Oppo has packed a 7,050mAh silicon-carbon battery inside, featuring 100W wired SUPERVOOC and 50W wireless AIRVOOC charging. Additionally, with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for protection, it's clearly positioned as a top-line flagship before even examining the camera features.
The latest flagship operates on the Android 16 OS with a ColorOS 16 custom skin, introducing features like a Live Space notification capsule, AI Mind Space for capturing and organizing on-screen information, AI Bill Manager, and various other AI-driven tools. There's also a three-month subscription to Google AI Pro included.
What truly sets this phone apart
At the heart of Oppo’s Find X9 Ultra is a new Hasselblad Master Camera System comprising five rear cameras. That's right, five sensors on the back. The most notable is the world’s first 50MP 10x optical telephoto camera in a smartphone, which utilizes a custom sensor and an f/3.5 aperture. Oppo asserts it provides genuine 10x optical zoom, along with an industry-first 20x optical-quality zoom.
The impressive 10x telephoto is just one part of the configuration. The phone also includes dual 200MP Hasselblad cameras: a primary camera featuring Sony’s 1/1.12-inch LYTIA 901 sensor with an f/1.5 aperture, and a 3x periscope telephoto camera with a substantial 1/1.28-inch sensor and an f/2.2 aperture, which can also function as a macro shooter. To put this into perspective, the telephoto lens is as large as the main sensor of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
There’s also a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Completing the array is a multispectral True Color sensor that enhances color accuracy and white balance for both photos and videos. Together, these components create a camera system capable of covering eight lens experiences: 14mm, 23mm, 47mm, 70mm, 139mm, 230mm, 460mm, and macro.
Oppo supports the hardware with a Hasselblad Master Mode, allowing photography enthusiasts to avoid overly processed images and gain finer control over their shots. On the video side, the phone can record 4K at 60fps Dolby Vision HDR from 0.6x to 30x, 4K at 120fps using the dual 200MP cameras, and 8K at 30fps.
The Explorer Case and 300mm Teleconverter are a photographer's dream
Oppo is also launching the Find X9 Ultra Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit, which adds an exciting touch to the overall offering. The OPPO Hasselblad Explorer Case, crafted from dark green vegan leather, draws design inspiration from the Hasselblad X2D 100C Earth Explorer Edition. It features an orange two-stage shutter button for half-press focus and full-press shutter operations, along with a physical zoom dial. It is compatible with standard 67mm filters and enables users to mount the teleconverter directly.
The OPPO Hasselblad 300mm Explorer Teleconverter utilizes 16 high-transmittance glass elements arranged in 11 groups, including four ED elements, and attaches to the 3x telephoto camera. Oppo claims it provides a 300mm equivalent focal length or 13x optical zoom, and by leveraging the underlying 200MP sensor, it can extend to 690mm or 30x while preserving optical quality.
