Casely is recalling almost 500,000 power banks due to a fire risk. Here’s how to determine if your device is included in the recall.

      If you possess a power bank, it’s important to check if it’s one of the faulty models. Casely has reissued a recall for approximately 429,200 units of the Casely Power Pods via the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, creating a significant risk of fire and burns.

      What prompted the Casely power bank recall?

      This is not the first recall for these power banks. The initial recall was announced in April 2025 after 51 reports from consumers detailed issues with the battery overheating, expanding, or igniting. At that time, six individuals reported minor burns.

      Since then, 28 additional incidents have emerged, some with tragic outcomes. In August 2024, a 75-year-old woman in New Jersey was charging her phone while the power bank was on her lap when it ignited and exploded. She suffered severe burns and ultimately passed away due to complications.

      How to determine if your Casely power bank is affected

      The recalled item is the Casely Power Pods 5000mAh portable MagSafe wireless phone charger. Check for the model number E33A located on the back and the name "Casely" engraved on the front right side of the device.

      If you own this specific model, stop using it right away. Do not dispose of it in regular trash or curbside recycling as lithium-ion batteries require special disposal. Make sure to contact your local municipal household hazardous waste collection center beforehand to verify they accept recalled lithium-ion batteries.

      How to obtain a replacement or refund

      To receive a free replacement or a $60 store credit, visit the website. You will need to complete an online form and submit two photos: one showing the front of the power bank with the word "Recalled" and the date marked in permanent ink, and another displaying the model number on the back.

      After your information is confirmed, your selected option will be processed. Replacement units will be shipped in about 2 to 4 weeks, and any gift card will be delivered digitally.

      Casely is not the only brand that has encountered this challenge. The popular Haribo power bank was also recalled last December due to battery misalignment and structural flaws.
