      Thomas Jane delivers one of the most underappreciated performances in this film. I appreciate how the narrative never allows you to completely despise or fully empathize with Wilf. You grasp his reasoning right up to the moment the act is committed, and then the burden of it envelops everything like an unrelenting fog.

      What unfolds is one of the most emotionally intense representations of loss, faith, and human tenacity ever captured on film. What resonates most with me about this movie is its refusal to depict grief as tidy or straightforward. Shin-ae does not merely weep and heal; she navigates through silence, hysteria, false hope, anger, and even a sense of revenge, sometimes within the same chapter of her life. It’s uncomfortable in the best possible way and lingers with you long after the credits finish.

      **Mindhorn (2016)**

      If you’re looking for something utterly ridiculous yet strangely endearing, "Mindhorn" is a British comedy that might surprise you. Julian Barratt stars as Richard Thorncroft, a faded actor who previously played a fictional TV detective named Bruce Mindhorn in the 1980s, known for his bionic eye capable of detecting lies.

      The chaos begins when a real suspect on the Isle of Man demands the genuine Mindhorn's help, mistakenly believing the character is real. Thorncroft, desperate and delusional, goes along with the request.

      The film is delightfully absurd and primarily slapstick, but what adds depth beyond the typical comedy is the bittersweet, schadenfreude-laden portrayal of a man who struggles to identify himself outside of his role. I particularly enjoy how Barratt plays Thorncroft’s delusions with a straight face, which amplifies the humor.
