iOS 27 and AI might resolve the iPhone's biggest frustration, the ineffective shortcuts app.

The Shortcuts app on iPhones has never truly felt user-friendly, and that could be considered a mild assessment. Despite its powerful capabilities, it often comes across as cumbersome and outdated, as if it hasn't progressed alongside the rest of iOS. While other aspects of the iPhone have advanced over the years, Shortcuts has largely remained unchanged, and not for the better. Utilizing it can be challenging, particularly for those who aren't already acquainted with its functionality. It is one of those applications that seems promising in theory but becomes a burden in practice. However, this may soon change. With iOS 27 and Apple’s focus on AI, there is a genuine possibility that Shortcuts could evolve into a more intuitive and enjoyable tool, rather than something users tend to avoid unless absolutely necessary.
iOS 27 and AI might be just what Shortcuts needs

Apple appears to be re-evaluating the Shortcuts app, this time placing significant emphasis on its Apple Intelligence features. Instead of requiring users to manually create automations step by step, the plan is to enable you to simply articulate what you want, allowing the app to handle the rest. In the upcoming version Apple is reportedly developing, users will no longer need to sift through menus or piece actions together like a puzzle. Instead, you can communicate using natural language, either through typing or voice commands. For instance, you could say, “Turn on Do Not Disturb when I open Netflix,” or “Send a message to my mom when I leave work,” and the app would automatically generate that shortcut for you.
This could greatly benefit those who have always found Shortcuts somewhat intimidating. Currently, while it is powerful, it is not particularly user-friendly for beginners. By incorporating AI, Apple aims to make automation feel more intuitive and less of a task to master. If successful, the Shortcuts app could undoubtedly become one of the most valuable applications available.
I am genuinely excited about this development, as it feels like a much-needed improvement from the currently awkward Shortcuts app.

Speculation indicates that the 18 Pro series might feature a much more vibrant and playful color palette, which would be a refreshing change. It is quite exciting to imagine that Apple might finally embrace a more playful spirit.

Your iPhone is about to critique your grammar
Apple, in its characteristic deliberate manner, has finally chosen to address one of humankind’s recurring challenges: our struggle to write coherent sentences on iPhones.
