Razer, primarily known for its gaming peripherals, has taken a significant step into productivity with the introduction of a wireless split keyboard that features AI shortcuts, a Command Dial, and ergonomic comfort designed for all-day use.
Razer has consistently identified as a gaming company, so it's noteworthy when it ventures into the productivity market with its first split ergonomic keyboard. Presenting the Razer Pro Type Ergo, which indeed includes a specific AI button reminiscent of the AI features seen in recent Windows Copilot PCs.
How does the Pro Type Ergo stand out?
The Razer Pro Type Ergo is fundamentally a wireless split keyboard aimed at professionals who spend significant time typing and may have experienced wrist strain as a result. Its design separates the conventional QWERTY layout into two halves that are slightly angled, promoting a more natural hand position.
In addition to the more ergonomic wrist angle, the keyboard includes several features aimed at enhancing comfort. These comprise a cushioned wrist rest, five customizable tilt angles (ranging from 4° forward to 7° backward), and ultra-low-profile keycaps.
Unlike typical keyboards, this ergonomic split model features two 'B' keys, each located on one side for accessibility with both thumbs.
What functions does the AI button serve?
As previously mentioned, the Pro Type Ergo is equipped with an AI button that, akin to the Copilot key on Windows devices, allows you to execute shortcuts for tasks such as summarizing text, drafting emails, or initiating specific actions through Razer Synapse. This feature is called AI Prompt Master.
The keyboard also includes two command dials positioned on the top left and right, enhancing the user experience for scrolling, zooming, and navigating timelines. Additional features include five macro keys and a microphone mute button.
As for connectivity, the keyboard supports HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C with compatibility for up to five devices. And regarding battery life, Razer claims the ergonomic keyboard lasts up to three months on a single charge, which is quite impressive.
The starting price is $189.99 in the United States, which, considering its features and comfort, makes it a tempting purchase for many.
