ChatGPT is receiving a significant update to enhance file management.
A new Library tab and Recent files menu are designed to simplify the process of locating, reusing, and working with files across ChatGPT conversations.
OpenAI is addressing one of the most annoying issues related to file handling in ChatGPT. The company is introducing two new features that will allow users to quickly access files they have previously uploaded, specifically a Recent files menu and a dedicated Library tab.
How do the new file management features in ChatGPT function?
Previously, files in ChatGPT were mostly linked to specific conversations, which meant that retrieving them often required revisiting the original chat and scrolling through extensive threads. The new Recent files option in the attachment menu now displays some of the files you’ve most recently utilized, making it easier to return to ongoing work without having to sift through older chats.
It has become simpler to find, reuse, and enhance the files you upload and create in ChatGPT. You can easily reference files in a conversation using recent files from the toolbar, ask ChatGPT about previously uploaded items, or explore your files using the new Library tab in the web sidebar.
On the web, there is now a Library tab in the sidebar that functions as a central repository for all your uploaded and generated files, providing a more organized view rather than tying everything to separate conversations. You can browse, search, and quickly attach files to new chats from this hub.
OpenAI also states that ChatGPT can respond to inquiries regarding files you have already uploaded, eliminating the need to reupload them for additional insights. These updates collectively enhance the speed and ease of file reuse, particularly for those who regularly manage files across numerous sessions.
Who will have access, and when?
The update is being rolled out globally to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Business plans. However, users in the EU, Switzerland, and the UK will need to wait a bit longer, with availability in these areas expected soon. There has been no announcement yet regarding whether these features will be available for the free tier.
With these enhancements, OpenAI is positioning ChatGPT as more than just a chatbot, gradually transforming it into a tool for managing ongoing work across conversations.

Gemini, ChatGPT, and most other AI chatbots share similar thought processes, which raises concerns about their impact on human creativity.
A recent study indicates that the majority of chatbots provide notably similar answers, leading to concerns regarding creative thinking. AI chatbots are intended to enhance your creativity, not limit it. However, new research suggests that reliance on them may lead to the opposite effect.
A study published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence reveals that leading models such as Gemini, GPT, and Llama tend to converge on similar concepts when faced with creative tasks. Although many individual responses appear original and useful, a broader view reveals a different trend: outputs begin to align across multiple prompts and users.
You can now explore Shopify stores and shop directly within ChatGPT.
OpenAI is broadening the shopping features of ChatGPT, making it easier to navigate Shopify-powered brand stores and purchase products through a more seamless checkout experience. This update builds on the company’s focus on "agentic commerce," aimed at enhancing product discovery and simplifying purchases.

A new AI aims to assess whether your driving habits indicate a risk of accidents.
Researchers claim that eye tracking, heart rate, and personality data can help identify risks early.
A new AI model addresses a question that most drivers often overlook: How likely are you to be involved in a crash before you even start driving? This system analyzes driving behaviors, incorporating signals such as eye movement, heart rate, and personality characteristics to identify warning signs early. Instead of waiting for real-world errors, it uses simulated driving tests to reveal behaviors associated with dangerous outcomes.
