Apple is considering an “Ask Siri” feature that would make the assistant accessible throughout your iPhone.
Apple is planning a significant AI update with iOS 27, featuring one particular aspect that could greatly enhance your daily experience.
As reported by Bloomberg, the company is experimenting with a version of Siri designed to operate throughout your entire iPhone, assisting you within apps, messages, and even system functionalities.
This revamped Siri will build upon Apple's AI systems while also utilizing Google’s Gemini for more intensive tasks, merging both to create a smarter, more adept assistant that aligns more closely with contemporary AI tools.
Internally referred to as Campo, the updated Siri is being built to tackle real-world tasks. It will access personal information such as messages, notes, and emails, execute actions within apps, retrieve news, and even conduct web searches using Apple’s tools.

Apple is testing a system-wide "Ask Siri" feature that can be found across built-in applications. Users will be able to select text, tap the option, and quickly engage in a conversation with Siri.
This will make Siri function more like a chatbot. Instead of submitting generic questions, you'll have the opportunity to chat based on what is visible on your screen, similar to ChatGPT.
Additionally, Apple is evaluating a "Write with Siri" feature within the keyboard, simplifying text generation or editing on the fly.
The assistant will adopt a more conversational tone. According to Bloomberg, it will facilitate ongoing interactions through both text and voice, marking a departure from the current version that has difficulty with context.

Apple is also experimenting with a new interface. Siri might be positioned at the top of your screen within the Dynamic Island, prompting users to “Search or Ask.” The recognizable glowing edges design could be completely overhauled.
Moreover, there are plans to integrate Siri with the search function. Apple aims to replace Spotlight with Siri, allowing users to locate local files or conduct more extensive queries in a single location.
You will still be able to activate Siri using your voice or the power button, but the overall experience is expected to feel more cohesive. The Bloomberg report also mentions Apple is developing a standalone Siri app along with a refreshed interface.
The AI-enhanced Siri is anticipated to be unveiled at WWDC 2026 on June 8, with its features launching later as part of iOS 27 and macOS 27 in September or October.
However, Apple’s efforts to transform Siri are reportedly encountering challenges, with delays for new products like the HomePod and Apple TV attributed to the readiness of the upgraded Siri.
