Gemini will allow you to adjust Google TV settings using voice commands.
Your Google TV is becoming much smarter
Google has revealed a range of new Gemini features for Google TV at CES 2026, aimed at enhancing the usefulness and clarity of on-screen responses from the comfort of your couch. Gemini was first introduced on Google TV last year as part of Google's plan to replace Google Assistant with Gemini across its devices.
Rather than providing brief, text-heavy replies, Gemini on Google TV will focus on delivering more engaging, visual responses that include high-resolution images, relevant video context, and live sports updates when appropriate, enabling users to gain clearer answers at a glance without needing to use their phones.
Capabilities of Gemini on Google TV
One significant new feature is called Deep Dives, which will simplify complex subjects for better understanding. For instance, if you inquire about the reasons behind a natural phenomenon, Gemini will present a visual explanation and provide an option to delve deeper into the topic, all while letting you enjoy what you're currently watching.
Gemini will also manage TV settings in a more conversational manner. Instead of navigating through menus, users can voice commands like the screen is too dim or the dialogue is difficult to hear, and Gemini will automatically make the necessary adjustments. This feature aims to streamline everyday adjustments, making them quicker and less aggravating.
The update also encompasses photo and creative functionalities. Users of Google Photos can search their libraries for specific individuals or events using Gemini, apply artistic filters through Photo Remix, or produce cinematic, immersive slideshows from their existing pictures. Additionally, Google plans to introduce content generation tools powered by Veo and Nano Banana, allowing users to create new images or artistically remix photos right from their TV.
The Gemini update for Google TV will be available for free, beginning with the latest TCL TV models, with other Google TV devices expected to follow in the upcoming months. Google has recently introduced Gemini to the Google TV Streamer, so it may take a while for these new features to be more widely available.
