JBL Sense Pro and Sense Lite introduce air-conduction audio for everyday use

JBL aims to transform our perception of "open-ear" listening with the introduction of two new models: the JBL Sense Pro and JBL Sense Lite. These are not conventional earbuds that obstruct your ears; instead, they utilize innovative air-conduction technology to deliver music while keeping you fully aware of your surroundings. This marks a significant update for JBL, concentrating on enhancing open-ear audio to a level that is suitable for daily use.

The key feature of the Sense Pro and Sense Lite is that you can enjoy both the sounds around you and rich bass simultaneously. Both models incorporate JBL OpenSound technology, which directs audio toward your ear without blocking the ear canal. This design is ideal for individuals who want to stay alert while jogging, listen to their colleagues in an office setting, or simply dislike the sensation of silicone tips in their ears.

Open-air audio technology is the next significant advancement for JBL

Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at HARMAN, states that JBL has successfully achieved "full, bass-rich sound" through air conduction, overcoming the challenges that have traditionally plagued open-ear technology. The aim is to transition these headphones from a niche safety device to a mainstream option for music enthusiasts.

The Sense Pro is the more powerful of the two models. It features large 16.2mm drivers, supports Hi-Res Audio, and employs an Adaptive Bass Boost Algorithm to ensure the music maintains depth. JBL has also prioritized call quality by integrating four microphones and a "Voice Pickup Sensor" to ensure clear audio even in windy or noisy environments. Additionally, it includes a high-quality, adjustable hook for a more secure fit.

The Sense Lite caters to those seeking simplicity and comfort

It is lighter, made from soft silicone, and designed to blend seamlessly with your ear. While its audio specifications are not as advanced, it still provides adaptive bass and an impressive 32 hours of battery life. Furthermore, with an IP54 rating, it can withstand sweat and some rain without issues.

Both models are compatible with Google Fast Pair and the JBL Headphones app for personalized settings. The Pro version offers desirable features such as wireless charging and Bluetooth 6.0, extending the total battery life to 38 hours.

The JBL Sense Pro will be available for $199.95 starting March 2026, followed by the Sense Lite at $149.95. As more individuals seek ways to remain connected to their environment while enjoying their music, JBL’s new models demonstrate that "open" does not have to mean "empty" in terms of sound.
