Amazon updates Fire TV and its mobile app to enable quicker show discovery.
Amazon is launching 2026 by reassessing how users discover content on Fire TV. Before CES 2026, the company has introduced a completely redesigned Fire TV experience and an updated Fire TV mobile app, aimed at minimizing scrolling time and helping viewers find their shows more quickly.
According to Amazon, this update is a response to the increasingly overwhelming nature of streaming, with a plethora of content across various apps making the selection process feel laborious.
A quicker, more streamlined Fire TV experience

The enhanced Fire TV interface focuses on speed and clarity. Amazon has restructured the underlying software to make navigation faster, achieving performance improvements of up to 30% compared to the previous version. The design has also been modernized with cleaner layouts, softer edges, revised typography, and improved spacing, but the most significant change lies in how content is organized.
Fire TV now categorizes movies, TV shows, sports, news, and live content into specific sections that aggregate titles from all your streaming apps in one location, eliminating the need to open each app to see available options. This is intended to cut down on the time users spend searching.
Users can now pin up to 20 apps on the home screen, an increase from the previous limit of 6, and can quickly access sections like Games, Art and Photos, and the Ambient Experience using the remote.
Alexa+ is also intricately integrated into the new experience. Viewers can request personalized recommendations, jump to particular scenes in Prime Video movies, check game statistics, control smart home devices, or even create AI-generated background screensavers using natural voice commands.
The Fire TV mobile app now offers more than just remote control functionality
Amazon is also revamping the Fire TV mobile app, which many users previously relied on solely as a backup remote. The new app aligns with the look and feel of the redesigned Fire TV interface, allowing users to browse content, manage watchlists, and initiate playback directly on their TV.

Now positioned as a second screen, the app simplifies the process of discovering what to watch next, saving recommendations from friends, and queuing content while away from home. Amazon has stated that the updated Fire TV mobile app will be free to download, complementing a broader refresh of Fire TV that includes both the living room and the mobile experience.
The redesigned Fire TV interface will start rolling out in February, initially reaching the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (second generation), and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED TVs.
The wider rollout will take place later in the spring, expanding to newer Fire TV 4K streaming devices and TVs, including the Fire TV 2-Series, Fire TV 4-Series, Fire TV Omni QLED models, and Fire TV OS TVs produced by partners like Panasonic, Hisense, TCL, and Insignia.
