YouTube is now leveraging AI in its latest efforts against users seeking an ad-free viewing experience. The platform recently announced its intention to utilize AI models to enhance the effectiveness of ads by carefully positioning them within videos.
During its Brandcast 2025 event in New York, YouTube shared plans to employ Google’s Gemini AI to analyze videos for optimal ad placement. This AI will pinpoint significant moments, referred to as “Peak Points,” in videos where viewers are most engaged and less likely to pause to avoid ads.
The AI is said to surpass the current histogram feature on the YouTube scrub bar that highlights “Most replayed” segments in a video. However, the criteria YouTube will use to identify these peak moments are not clearly defined.
YouTube does not specify other details regarding the ads, such as their length or whether they can be skipped. However, it is reasonable to assume that YouTube is unlikely to insert shorter or easily skippable ads, as such features would undermine the goal of placing ads during the most intense video moments.
While this may be unpleasant for viewers, it could benefit content creators, potentially leading to increased ad revenue. Whether this will also lead to improved click-through rates (CTR) for advertisers will likely depend on how relevant the ads are to viewers.
All these strategies ultimately aim to encourage viewers to subscribe to YouTube Premium, and the company has been testing various approaches to persuade users to make the switch, including offering limited ad-free previews and plans with reduced ads. Additionally, YouTube continues its efforts to make ad blockers less effective, particularly for those using Chrome as their main browser.
In conjunction with these strategic ad initiatives, YouTube announced that it will live-stream the NFL Week One game from Brazil on September 5th, available to all viewers without a subscription.

If you're finding it challenging to select the ideal live TV streaming service for your needs, you're not alone—viewers have more options than ever. Whether you want a large on-demand content library or a reliable live TV streaming option, the choices available are abundant.
YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV are two of the most popular selections, both noted for their competitive pricing, comparable features, and solid channel offerings. But ultimately, which one should you choose?
YouTube updates will enhance your sleep and improve speed
There are numerous ways Google could enhance the YouTube experience across all its platforms. Recently, it announced several updates aimed at improving your viewing experience on mobile devices, computers, and TVs. These updates focus on playlists, user interaction, playback speed, and, perhaps most critically, an option to prevent waking up at 4 a.m. with unexpected content still on your screen.
Google mentions that more than two dozen improvements are on the horizon. Here’s a brief overview of the most significant upcoming features:
Sleep timer becoming available to all
The sleep timer feature is transitioning from YouTube Premium to all mobile users. As the name implies, it allows users to set a time for YouTube to stop playing. There are multiple options for how long the sleep timer can be set (perhaps too many), allowing users to select from 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 minutes, or 1 hour—or until the current video ends.
What is YouTube Music? Everything you should know
YouTube, known for its extensive video library, has quietly grown into a robust music streaming service. Its dedicated app, YouTube Music, offers a handpicked selection of songs, albums, and podcasts tailored for various music enthusiasts. With millions of tracks and numerous music videos, YouTube Music features an extensive catalog that competes with major players like Spotify and Apple Music.
The app employs advanced algorithms to recommend music based on your listening history, ensuring a customized and enjoyable listening experience. YouTube Premium subscribers can download their favorite songs for offline listening, making it ideal for commutes, workouts, or areas with limited internet access.
