NYT Strands today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Sunday, May 4.
Strands is a new daily puzzle from the New York Times. This version offers a more challenging twist on the traditional word search, requiring sharp observational skills to complete. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can prove tricky on certain days. It's perfectly okay to ask for assistance occasionally. If you find yourself stuck and want the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, you can find the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
You begin each Strands puzzle with the objective of locating the “theme words” hidden within the letter grid. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words, and confirm the last letter by double-tapping. If you select the correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and will no longer be available for selection.
If you happen upon a word that isn’t a theme word, it’s still beneficial! For every three non-theme words you identify that are at least four letters long, you’ll receive a hint — one of the theme word's letters will be revealed, and you’ll need to unscramble it.
Every letter in the grid contributes to spelling out the theme words, with no repetitions. Each letter is utilized only once.
Each puzzle contains one “spangram,” a unique theme word (or words) that encapsulate the puzzle’s theme and stretches across two opposing sides of the board. When you identify the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The aim is to finish the puzzle quickly without relying too heavily on hints.

Chrono Trigger creator Yuji Horii may have hinted at a remake
At a Comicon panel in Naples, Italy, Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger creator Yuji Horii may have accidentally suggested that a Chrono Trigger remake could be in development. According to Reddit user u/df_tarocco_1, an audience member claimed, "[Horii] let this information slip during an interview. The host whispered something to him, and he covered his mouth. The audience went wild."
However, it’s wise to take this information with skepticism. There hasn't been any official announcement regarding a Chrono Trigger remake, despite the enthusiasm surrounding the series. Other Reddit users are supporting the account, with one noting that this wouldn’t be the first instance of Horii leaking details about franchises he’s worked on previously.
