The iPhone 17 Air may fall short in battery life.

Concerns regarding the battery life of the iPhone 17 Air may be valid, as indicated by a recent report from The Information. Allegedly, internal tests conducted by Apple revealed that merely 60 to 70 percent of iPhone 17 Air devices could last a full day without needing a recharge, compared to 80 to 90 percent for other iPhone models.

This issue is partly attributed to the phone's design. With a thickness of just 5.5mm, the iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to be the slimmest iPhone ever, and among the thinnest smartphones available, but this may impact its battery capacity. To address this challenge, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce an optional battery case accessory to provide users with extra power to help them get through the day.

Initial speculations suggested that Apple might shift from lithium-ion to silicon-carbide batteries, but if this report holds true, it appears that won’t be the case. Silicon-carbide batteries are known for their higher energy density compared to traditional battery types, which allows for more capacity in a smaller size.

The iPhone has consistently been a sought-after product, yet predicting consumer reaction to a design change like this can be challenging. According to the report, Apple intends to allocate just 10 percent of its manufacturing capacity to the iPhone 17 Air. This figure might be reevaluated post-launch based on overall demand, but for now, it seems that the device will cater to a more niche market.

The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to debut in September alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, with a potential starting price of $799, featuring a single rear camera. It is also expected to come equipped with 12GB of RAM, compared to the 8GB in the current iPhone 16.

It's rare for Apple to introduce a new color for the iPhone, but that might change with the release of the iPhone 17 this fall. A report suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro could be offered in a Sky Blue color, similar to what is currently available in new MacBook Air models.

In light of this, we conducted an unofficial poll to see which previous iPhone colors were favorites. We compiled a list of seven, presented in no specific order. Some selections may come as a surprise.

The new iPhone 17 Air might feature significantly more memory than previous models, potentially enhancing both its longevity and performance. While the iPhone 16 models currently come with 8GB of RAM, it appears that the iPhone 17 Air will include a substantial 12GB of RAM.
