Chloë Sevigny is interested in returning to her role from American Psycho for the remake.

      It has been 25 years since Chloë Sevigny first portrayed Jean in American Psycho, sharing the screen with protagonist Patrick Bateman. Now, a quarter of a century later, director Luca Guadagnino is preparing to create his version of American Psycho, and Sevigny has proposed the idea of reprising her original role from so long ago.

      “When I learned that [Guadagnino] was possibly involved … I suggested to him that I should reprise Jean, and that they could use reverse-aging on me,” she told IndieWire. “I believed that he would appreciate the concept of having the same actress play the same character.”

      However, Sevigny mentioned that she felt the director wasn’t particularly sold on the idea. “But I’m not sure. He mentioned he would consider something else for me,” she clarified. Sevigny and Guadagnino have collaborated before, and she will next appear in his film After the Hunt.

      The original American Psycho, which is based on Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel, was a contentious film upon its release but has been regarded as a classic over the years. Guadagnino’s film won’t be a remake of the 2000 version, but rather a fresh adaptation of the original material.

      The novel centers on Patrick Bateman, a prosperous finance professional from the 1980s, revealing his disturbing routine of murdering individuals in his apartment every night. Given the blend of style and violence that characterizes both the novel and the 2000 film, it seems like the type of project that Guadagnino would find appealing.
