Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for play starting September 18 at the Game Worlds exhibit at the Australian National Museum of Screen Culture in Melbourne, Australia. This exhibit features a total of 30 significant video games. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out the game, likely for a brief segment. This announcement raises hopes that the anticipated 2025 release date is indeed forthcoming.
If the game is set to be playable in September, it suggests that it is probably already at a playable stage. Four months is typically not enough time for developers to implement major changes, but it's possible that only a small section of the game will be presented at the event.
As Team Cherry is based in Australia, the location is not unexpected. In an interview with IGN, curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement, stating, “Since the initial reveal of Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2019, it has become one of the most highly anticipated indie games globally. We are excited to highlight the design of this South Australian game as a key feature of Game Worlds in September.”

Fans interpret this news to mean that the game might officially launch before September, although no official release date has been announced yet. Silksong made a subtle appearance at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in early April, again hinting at a 2025 release, but some remain doubtful. Historically, Silksong's release has been postponed several times. In 2022, Xbox claimed that all games featured in its Valentine’s Day showcase would be released within a year, but Silksong did not meet that timeline. Now, three years later, it still hasn't launched.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is among the most awaited games of this generation, building on one of the standout titles in the Metroidvania genre. However, due to previous delays and missed deadlines, it’s wise to maintain a level of skepticism until it is actually released.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is also coming to PS4 and PS5
Team Cherry announced that the eagerly awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on two additional platforms at launch: PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The official PlayStation Twitter account shared this news this morning, adding PS4 and PS5 to the list of platforms that already included PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is a sequel to Hollow Knight, one of the most celebrated Metroidvania games of the past ten years. The game follows Hornet, a character from the original game, as she navigates the mysterious world of Pharloom. When Team Cherry first revealed the indie title in February 2019, it was confirmed to be in development for PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch.
After being relatively quiet following its E3 2019 appearance, the game made a notable comeback as one of the first announcements during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase in June 2022. Although it’s confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available via Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox platforms, it's reassuring for those who prefer to try it on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation to know they will have access on day one.
Unfortunately, this PlayStation update did not come with a new trailer or a release date confirmation, leaving Hollow Knight fans still eagerly waiting for its sequel. Microsoft did assert that all games presented in its June showcase were "targeted to launch in the next 12 months," making it plausible that Hollow Knight: Silksong could be released for PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in the first half of 2023.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch on Xbox Game Pass
During the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, Team Cherry unveiled a new trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong. While no release date was provided, it has been confirmed that the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass for both console and PC.
Everything we know about Mina the Hollower
Numerous indie games have sought funding through crowdfunding platforms when they were unable to secure traditional publishing support. The outcomes vary greatly; some turn out well, while others fall short, and many do not come to fruition whatsoever. The surge of games looking to crowdfunding can be traced back to the success of one of the platform's most notable examples: Shovel Knight.
Having supported this 8-bit homage to games like Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, and Ducktales for nearly a decade—along with several spin-offs—Yacht Club Games has finally announced its second project titled Mina the Hollower.
