I used a phone that has a 23,800mAh battery; it's both amazing and awful.
No, that's not a typographical error.
The Unihertz Tank 3 Pro is a durable phone equipped with the largest battery I've encountered in any handheld device, and nothing else even comes close. This formidable phone is designed to last several days on a single charge, and if you're merely using it for calls, it certainly will. If you experience battery anxiety, this phone will nearly eliminate it, but that capacity comes at a price.
Why is its battery so massive? In addition to running for days without needing a charge, the Tank 3 Pro features a 1,200 lumen flashlight on its back and a built-in projector. Forget about streaming to a large screen; this phone brings the big screen with you.
It can also function as a power bank for other devices. Whether you love camping or are a devoted music enthusiast attending numerous festivals, the Tank 3 Pro is designed to accompany you everywhere, and I enjoyed using it in that context — but there are some drawbacks.

This is the heaviest phone I’ve ever handled.
The Tank 3 Pro weighs an impressive 696 grams, or about 1.53 pounds. It's not pocket-friendly, and you'll definitely need a belt to carry it. This isn't the type of phone to have while wearing sweatpants. It's also quite bulky, and even simple tasks like sending texts took some adjustment due to its weight.
If you're accustomed to using a slim and lightweight phone (as most people are), the Tank 3 Pro will require an adjustment period. I found that I rarely operated it with one hand, and while browsing the Google Play game library, it felt more like playing on a handheld device like a 3DS than on a phone.
Making calls was also not enjoyable. I was surprised by how quickly my arm grew tired from holding such weight to my ear, so I primarily used the speaker for calls. After using the Tank 3 Pro, my iPhone felt almost weightless in my hand. Another consideration: if you drop this phone, be sure to move your feet quickly. It hurts more than dropping a standard-sized phone.
The phone can become uncomfortably warm.
One thing I observed while testing the phone is how warm it gets during charging. It’s puzzling since it has a built-in vapor chamber and a physical fan to dissipate heat. During use, the fans activate and maintain a comfortable temperature even while the projector is on, making it an odd oversight that they don't kick in during charging.
It didn't get so hot that it burned my skin, but I didn’t want to grip it too tightly after it had been charging. Fortunately, it cooled off quickly.

Despite its enormous battery, it charges quickly.
The Tank 3 Pro charges from zero to 100% faster than my iPhone, which is quite impressive. Much of this speed is due to the 120W fast charger included with it. It took only 37 minutes to go from a 23% charge to full capacity. (As it turned out, I didn't need to leave it charging overnight; just during dinner.)
The 23% charge remaining was after using it for a week. I did my best to deplete the battery — watching content on the projector, playing games, etc. — and it continued to perform well despite my attempts to drain it while I worked. It would require a lot to bring the Tank 3 Pro down to zero.
I didn’t need to leave it plugged in overnight; just over dinner.
I assume that using the flashlight at maximum brightness would deplete the battery much faster, but I rarely needed it. If I took the phone camping or hiking, the battery might drain quicker. Nonetheless, Unihertz rates the Tank 3 Pro for 118 hours of phone calls, 48 hours of video playback, 98 hours of music, or 38 hours of gaming.
The camera system surpasses that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Apart from the battery and projector, what impressed me the most about this phone was its camera system. With a 200MP main camera, a 64MP night vision camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto lens, the Tank 3 Pro captures stunning images. It even features a programmable button on the side that can be set to automatically launch the camera app. However, the weight was a factor when taking photos (it was more challenging to hold steady).
On a purely technical level, it outperforms the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Nevertheless, because of differing internal processing, it's not a straightforward comparison. Still, I appreciated the Pro features in the camera that provided granular control over different settings for improved night photography.
Should you consider purchasing the Tank 3 Pro?
I enjoyed my experience with the Tank 3 Pro, but I wouldn’t use it as my daily phone. It’s a powerful device, but its weight and bulk
