      In the rapidly evolving realm of artificial intelligence, it seems that two formidable entities might join forces, as Apple Intelligence and Google Gemini could potentially collaborate.

      You may already be aware of Apple’s ongoing antitrust trial in the United States. A recent development from the trial includes a comment from Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who addressed the two AI platforms directly.

      In court, Pichai expressed his hope that Google would reach an agreement with Apple to integrate Google Gemini AI technology into Apple Intelligence.

      He specifically mentioned that this collaboration could happen by mid-2025.

      Why would the combination of Apple Intelligence and Google Gemini be significant?

      At present, numerous independent AI systems are competing to develop rapidly and take the lead. These have the potential to serve as the new gatekeepers for digital information, much like Google.

      Thus, a partnership between Google and Apple—whether fully integrated or working alongside each other—could indicate a significant advancement in AI functionality for end users.

      While Apple Intelligence and Siri currently operate locally, incorporating Google Gemini's extensive capabilities could create a more intelligent and naturally interactive experience.

      Currently, Apple Intelligence appears to be lagging behind competitors such as Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Google’s Gemini AI, all of which are making swift strides.

      The key point here is that this could mean Gemini technology being integrated into Apple Intelligence, a system that Apple intends to enhance, resulting in voice controls that would make Siri seem outdated.

      It's likely that Apple will utilize the Gemini Nano option, which is optimized for mobile use, but there could also be potential for the Gemini Ultra model to be used in macOS.

      When might this occur?

      If Pichai's statement holds true and the two companies reach an agreement, we could see Apple Intelligence with Gemini-level capabilities as early as September.

      This could lead to an announcement during Apple's WWDC 2025 event in June, with the rollout possibly coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 17 in September.

      If you’ve been frustrated with the Google Messages text box's limited size, there's good news: it can now expand beyond just four lines. Last month, Google Messages revamped its compose field — where you write messages — but many users were disappointed that it only displayed four lines of text at a time. This was especially inconvenient when needing to share long URLs that took up most of the space.

      However, changes are underway. In the latest beta version of Google Messages, the text field can now extend up to 14 lines before you need to scroll to read your message. This feature is not yet available in the stable release, but it should be coming soon.

      Google’s Gboard could soon gain an AI-powered meme generator

      Memes have surged in popularity, and Google is working on an AI-driven meme generator to simplify meme creation through Gboard. This upcoming tool, referred to internally as "Meme Studio," has faced some criticism, especially from Android Authority, the first to report on it.

      According to the report, users will have two options for creating memes: "custom" and "generate." The "custom" option allows users to select a base image from thousands available, adding their own captions. Google seems to be automating the process of sourcing and labeling these base images.

      Is it truly that different?

      The Google Pixel 9a does not feature the now-iconic Pixel visor or island that holds the cameras. Instead, its two cameras are enclosed within a stadium-shaped glass unit that sits nearly flush with the rear panel's surface. It is only slightly raised—a millimeter or so—which is barely noticeable when you run your finger over it. A flash unit is integrated alongside it, completely incorporated into the back of the Pixel 9a.
