If you’re considering buying one of the top graphics cards, why not also grab a new game? Nvidia has got you covered with this latest offer. The company has announced a new DOOM: The Dark Ages bundle that includes the game for free with the purchase of one of its latest GPUs, which translates to a $99 savings.
Effective immediately and lasting until May 21, if you purchase one of Nvidia’s RTX 50-series graphics cards or a laptop that features one of those GPUs, you'll receive the Premium Edition of DOOM: The Dark Ages at no cost. The Premium Edition has a price tag close to $100, providing you with significant savings if you intended to play that game anyway (and a great free game to explore if you weren't planning to).
Eligible GPUs for this promotion include the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070, for both desktop and laptop versions. Given that the RTX 5070 has a recommended retail price of $550, receiving a $100 game alongside it seems like a solid deal. However, locating any of these GPUs at their MSRP is currently proving difficult.
Acquiring the Premium Edition of DOOM also grants you some in-game advantages. You’ll receive a digital artbook and soundtrack, a Divinity skin pack, and early access to the game, enabling you to play it two days before its official release.
These bundles are expected to become available at various retailers worldwide, so check Nvidia's website to discover where you can get this special GPU and game offer while the promotion lasts. Game bundles aren't a new concept, but this particular one is somewhat unexpected, as it appeared Nvidia (and AMD) might not need to provide such incentives given the current market conditions. Nevertheless, the collaboration with Bethesda Softworks is a positive development, even though these GPUs are likely to sell out quickly.
In addition to the aforementioned bundle, Nvidia and Bethesda have also launched a special RTX 5080 featuring a DOOM-themed shroud. Produced by Asus, the ROG Astral RTX 5080 DOOM Edition is unique and can be pre-ordered as part of a $1,999 bundle that includes the GPU, the game, a t-shirt, a large mouse pad, and a yellow keycard replica.
Nvidia may finally allow gamers to purchase GPUs at reasonable prices soon.
Nvidia is preparing to update its lineup of the best graphics cards, and leaks have suggested a rumored release date for these new GPUs. The date alone isn't the most thrilling aspect; according to the leak, Nvidia plans for its add-in channel (AIC) partners to offer at least one model at the recommended retail price (MSRP)—something we are in dire need of right now. But how long will this last?
This information comes from HKEPC, a publication based in Hong Kong. HKEPC reports that Nvidia has announced the release dates for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, and the RTX 5060 (which will likely have 8GB of VRAM, though some sources indicate 12GB). Keep in mind that this information is still a rumor until Nvidia provides confirmation, which may take some time.
Popular graphics card monitoring and overclocking software, MSI Afterburner, has received a beta update that enables owners of Nvidia's RTX 50-series GPUs to boost their GDDR7 memory speeds by as much as 10%. This enhancement allows data transfer rates to achieve up to 36 gigatransfers per second (GT/s), exceeding Nvidia's standard specifications.
RTX 50-series graphics cards come with GDDR7 memory modules rated between 28GT/s and 32GT/s. Nvidia typically sets default data transfer rates slightly lower, at 28GT/s for most models and 30GT/s for the RTX 5080, to ensure stability and longevity. The recent update to MSI Afterburner unlocks the potential to surpass these factory settings, giving enthusiasts the chance to maximize their hardware's performance.
If you've recently browsed the graphics card market, you might have felt a sense of despair. It's a challenging scenario right now, with Nvidia's new RTX 50-series cards difficult to find and exorbitantly priced in second-hand markets, while the previous generation RTX 40-series is mostly out of stock and no longer in production. AMD’s top alternatives are also lacking as we await the upcoming launch of the RX 9070 and 9070 XT, and we hope there will be ample availability.
If your PC has failed or you prefer not to be an early adopter of a new GPU that could potentially damage your power connectors, what are your options? While second-hand cards are an alternative, recommending them is tricky since you can't be sure about their previous usage or whether you're truly buying an authentic product
