New features are being introduced to Google Pixel phones with the March 2025 update, including the rollout of the latest Pixel Camera version. Users can anticipate an enhanced astrophotography mode, with those using newer devices gaining access to a remote camera function as well. According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Camera 9.0 has started its rollout, but it may take some time for all users to receive the update, as feature rollouts generally require a period to become widely available. The well-known astrophotography mode, which enables users to capture images of the night sky—shots that usually need specialized camera equipment—is receiving an update that includes an animation mode during the shooting process. This feature is enabled by default but can be adjusted in the Settings > Advanced menu. Additionally, an explanation has been provided for the Palm timer mode, which allows users to start a timer by waving their hand in front of the camera; this works with both front and rear cameras.

The major update is aimed at users of the Pixel 9 series, who can now utilize the Connected Cameras feature. This functionality allows users to connect to other devices or another Pixel phone to take photos or livestream using these devices. For instance, it is compatible with GoPro 10 and later models, enabling users to pair their GoPro with a Pixel and toggle between the two while recording. This feature will be particularly useful for streamers or content creators looking to maximize their equipment in a multi-camera arrangement, although currently, only one additional device can be connected at a time. To activate this feature, navigate to Settings, then go to Connected devices > Connected preferences > Connected cameras. Users can enable or disable the feature and utilize the Camera Picker to link to another device and switch to it. The supported devices include Pixel 6 and later and GoPro 10 and later, both updated with the latest software. Additionally, users may apply filters or effects to the footage from the connected device and stream directly to platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok.

Pixel 9a leaks continue to emerge, with a video showcasing a plastic-backed phone. Over the weekend, a video surfaced featuring the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, and although it was swiftly removed, viewers noticed a Google Pixel 9a device in the frame. Images extracted from the video (via Android Headlines) depict a smartphone that resembles earlier renders of this budget device. However, there is a significant difference between the leaks; while prior leaks suggested a more premium feel for the new model compared to earlier versions, the latest leak confirms that it will return to using plastic, similar to the Pixel 8a, likely featuring a matte finish.

The Pixel 9a has surfaced again during a Galaxy S25 Edge leak. In a twist of fate, the Pixel 9a appears briefly in a YouTube video originally focused on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The video, uploaded by YouTuber Alexis Garza (better known as @technologiaconalexis), has since been removed, but, as is typical on the Internet, it remains available in some form. Observant fans captured screenshots of the video before its removal. While the lighting was not ideal and the resolution left much to be desired, the images still clearly show the upcoming device. The flash cutout appears larger than anticipated, with the camera itself looking smaller in comparison.

In other news, the Pixel 10's model number may have just leaked. While the announcement of the iPhone 16e is making headlines, there are other developments occurring. A listing from the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) may have revealed the official model numbers for the Pixel 10 lineup, indicating that the device is close to receiving approval and could be about six months from launch. Initial reports suggest at least four distinct models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, according to SmartPrix.com. The only model not mentioned is the Pixel 10A, which is expected to be unveiled later in the year.
