Currently, the issue with Suits LA is that it doesn’t quite feel like a spinoff of Suits, the legal dramedy that became a streaming hit in 2023. Perhaps this is why the show is set to have Rich Hoffman reprise his role as Louis Litt, a character he portrayed throughout all nine seasons of Suits. Deadline was the first to announce Hoffman’s return to Suits, marking his reappearance in the role since 2019. That year, Hoffman featured in an episode of Suits’ initial spinoff, Pearson, alongside his participation in the last season of the original series.

Although Hoffman is scheduled to bring back his prickly—but strangely lovable—character for just one episode this season, Deadline suggests there’s potential for the actor to make more appearances in Suits LA season 2. However, this potential is contingent on Suits LA receiving a renewal, which is not guaranteed at this point.

Another disappointing aspect of Hoffman’s return is that he will not be sharing the screen with his former co-star, Gabriel Macht. Suits LA has Macht slated for three episodes this season as his renowned character Harvey Spector. This means any on-screen reunion between Hoffman and Macht’s adversarial characters will have to be postponed for now.

So far, Suits LA appears to be grappling with an identity issue, oscillating between the dark backstory of its main character, Ted Black (Stephen Amell), and presenting lighter stories in the present. The conclusion of the Suits LA series premiere may have set the stage for Ted’s personal evolution, but it remains uncertain whether fans of Suits will welcome this new show as they did the original.
