Another Round (2020)
Nordisk Film Distribution
Are you someone who finds focus with a slight buzz? Another Round explores that idea. Four teachers and friends — Martin (Mads Mikkelsen), Tommy (Thomas Bo Larsen), Nikolaj (Magnus Millang), and Peter (Lars Ranthe) — are grappling with midlife crises. The men lack inspiration as they enter the latter half of their lives.
In dire need of change, they decide to experiment with the notion that having some alcohol in their system could enhance creativity and relaxation. Initially, the experiment yields positive results and enriches their daily lives. However, as they grow dependent on alcohol, they discover that they cannot escape their issues through drinking. Aging can be daunting, but it’s never late for a fresh start. Nominated for two Oscars, Another Round won Best International Feature Film.

Raging Bull (1980)
United Artists
Among the many collaborations between Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese, Raging Bull stands out. De Niro portrays Jake LaMotta, an aspiring middleweight boxer with dreams of becoming a champion. As he achieves success, he encounters Vickie (Cathy Moriarty), a striking Bronx girl who he eventually marries.
Jake navigates the mob and his bothersome brother (Joe Pesci) to become the middleweight champion. Yet, his anger and internal struggles ultimately lead to his downfall. Raging Bull isn't always an easy film to watch due to its portrayal of domestic violence. Nevertheless, De Niro's powerful performance and Scorsese's masterful direction render Raging Bull an enduring classic. Nominated for eight Oscars, Raging Bull took home two: Best Actor (De Niro) and Best Editing.

The Graduate (1967)
Embassy Pictures
“Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me. Aren’t you?” Dustin Hoffman delivered those memorable lines in The Graduate, Mike Nichols’ iconic dramedy that brilliantly captures the fear and anxiety many young professionals face while transitioning into adulthood. Benjamin Braddock (Hoffman) is among those confused individuals uncertain about his path post-college.
Enter Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), a married woman who seduces Benjamin. They embark on a summer affair that takes a surprising turn when Benjamin falls for Mrs. Robinson's daughter, Elaine (Katharine Ross). While Benjamin's relationship with Mrs. Robinson marks his sexual awakening, to be with Elaine, he must confront his greatest fear: maturity. Nominated for seven Oscars, Nichols won the sole award for Best Director.

Thelma & Louise (1991)
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer / MGM
Thelma & Louise emerged as one of the most pivotal road trip films since 1969’s Easy Rider. Ridley Scott’s crime drama features Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon as Thelma and Louise, two friends who set off on a vacation to escape their mundane lives in Arkansas. After stopping at a bar, Louise kills a man attempting to assault Thelma.
Fearing the police won't believe their account, the two plan to flee to Mexico to evade authorities, particularly Detective Slocumb (Harvey Keitel), the understanding officer trying to reason with them. Thelma & Louise became a crucial film for the feminist movement as it portrayed outlaws, typically depicted by men, as strong and intelligent women. Nominated for six Oscars, Callie Khouri won Best Original Screenplay.
