Pokémon Champions brings Stadium back for the Switch and mobile devices.
Today’s Pokémon Presents revealed an unexpected announcement: a new multiplayer game titled Pokémon Champions. This game will be available on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and it will connect with Pokémon Home, allowing you to bring all your favorite Pokémon to the arena.
Pokémon Champions appears to prioritize the battling elements of the franchise more than anything else, and the trailer certainly evoked memories of Pokémon Stadium. It also doesn’t seem restricted to any specific generation or set of abilities; the trailer featured Terastallized Pokémon battling against Mega Evolutions.
The game promises various gameplay modes. Since it aims to cater to both newcomers and seasoned players, a ranking system that differentiates skill levels would be logical. It might follow the model of other recently released mobile-oriented Pokémon games, potentially being free-to-play with a battle pass and microtransactions.
This is merely speculation; without additional details, it’s hard to determine what the game will involve—however, the trailer did display a Double Battle between two trainers, each using two Pokémon simultaneously.
The YouTube description of the official video states, “Prepare to enjoy everything you love about Pokémon battles all in one place—in Pokémon Champions. This new combat-centric game will include familiar elements like Pokémon types, Abilities, and moves, fostering a setting that encourages diverse strategies for Trainers of all skill levels.”
Neither Game Freak nor The Pokémon Company has provided a specific release date, and it seems that it may still be at least a year away. The game is currently listed as “in development.” Historically, Pokémon games tend to launch about six months after their initial announcement, as was the case with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet—and a battle-focused game should be relatively easier to develop due to its more straightforward scope.
Pokémon Day is upon us, bringing another Pokémon Presents showcase. During this event, the Pokémon Company will outline its plans for the vast franchise over the coming year. This particular Pokémon Presents is particularly exciting as it will reveal upcoming Pokémon content for 2024, following the outstanding success of Palworld in January. Pokémon enthusiasts will definitely want to watch and discover what’s next for their beloved franchise. For those unsure of how or where to watch, we’ve compiled all the necessary information here.
The next Pokémon Presents is set for 6 a.m. PT today, February 27. This date marks Pokémon Day and the 28th anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan. Although the Pokémon Company has not disclosed the duration of this presentation, past events have lasted anywhere from 10 to 35 minutes.
You can watch the February 2024 Pokémon Presents on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel, which we have embedded in this article for convenient viewing.
The official description for the February 2024 Pokémon Presents simply notes that it will feature "exciting Pokémon news in celebration of Pokemon Day 2024." This is quite vague, and there are currently no announced yet unreleased Pokémon games, apps, or expansions. Therefore, don't be surprised if The Pokémon Company reveals some new games during this event. Sources suggest that these new titles might be set in the Johto or Unova regions. We’ll have to tune in to see what The Pokémon Company has planned for us.
Even for trainers who aren't keen on completing their Pokédex, many are drawn to capturing Legendary Pokémon. These are some of the most powerful and iconic creatures in the series, and with the final DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, titled The Indigo Disk, adding the last group for generation nine, there’s even more to track down around Blueberry Academy.
Unlike earlier titles where finding these majestic Pokémon was straightforward, the process now has added complexity. Get your Pokéballs ready, as we have some Legendaries to capture!
Legendary Pokémon will not appear in The Indigo Disk until you’ve finished the main storyline and entered the postgame. Once you've completed the game, return to Blueberry Academy and talk to the Director for a brief tutorial on Special Coaches. Afterward, he’ll mention a mysterious individual outside the academy. This character, Snackworth, will guide you to the Legendary Pokémon.
The Indigo Disk marks the final DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, solidifying the latest Pokédex. This expansion not only introduces a few new Pokémon but also reintroduces a significant number of beloved creatures from previous generations, making the exploration of Paldea feel fresh. Your new journey will have you unraveling the mystery of an ancient myth in Kitakami, and perhaps these new Pokémon will hold the key.
Here are the new Pokémon to look forward to battling and capturing, along with the list of returning favorites to see if your childhood picks made it in.
This final expansion adds only four new Pokémon, similar to the Teal Mask DLC. Here’s a breakdown of each:
Terapagos
As the centerpiece of this DLC, Terapagos will play a crucial role in the game's storyline. Due to its significance, not much is known about it yet, including its type
