The Xiaomi 15 Ultra might be the most aesthetically pleasing phone of the year, according to the CEO who has unveiled its design.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has released several images of the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone, showcasing its impressive design. In a collection of six pictures shared by Jun on X, alongside one from the official Xiaomi account, the camera-inspired aesthetics are evident, echoing numerous earlier leaks. Xiaomi collaborates with camera specialists Leica, and while they have previously focused on camera hardware and software together, Xiaomi has now drawn direct inspiration from Leica's camera design for the first time. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra appears most appealing when held in landscape mode, featuring textured black material covering the lower two-thirds, while the top third resembles polished metal or silver glass. This look is reminiscent of classic Leica cameras and marks a significant upgrade from the more conventional design of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The back panel boasts a large camera module, protected by glass and housing multiple lenses, framed by a sleek metal ring. This design is simultaneously simple and striking, blending nostalgia with modernity. Acknowledging that this style may not cater to everyone's taste, Jun also showcased two more understated versions of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra: one entirely black and the other white, with the latter exhibiting an unusual brushed finish that suggests a non-glass material, possibly ceramic.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, alongside other models from the Xiaomi 15 series, is expected to be unveiled at the company's major event scheduled for Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 2. The event has been teased on Xiaomi's X account, and they have also mentioned that a new version of their SU7 electric vehicle will be presented at the event, aptly named the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, mirroring the phone's title. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra was utilized to create a preview video for the vehicle, which has also been shared on X.
Previously, we hailed the Xiaomi 14 Ultra as our favorite camera phone for 2024 and have expressed significant anticipation for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, one of the most awaited new phones for 2025. The confirmation of its stunning design heightens our eagerness to experience it firsthand. We will provide all the official updates from the launch event on March 2.

In a personal account, I explain why I moved from the iPhone 15 Pro to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This isn’t another tale of a "lifelong iPhone user trying Android." I test and utilize various smartphones and appreciate the adaptability of Android. Despite being a user of the iPhone 15 Pro since its release—mainly for its commendable battery life akin to the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the reliable performance of apps like Instagram and X—the user experience has been gradually declining.
Samsung's so-called "AI phone," the Galaxy S24 Ultra, addresses both these issues while introducing additional features I hadn't initially considered vital. Transitioning to the Galaxy S24 Ultra from the iPhone 15 Pro has unexpectedly been an enjoyable experience, and my decision to stick with it has nothing to do with AI.
Updates have negatively impacted the performance of the iPhone 15 Pro.
Before spending the typical $1,000 on a top-tier phone in 2024, many buyers ponder, "Do I need all that?" Ideally, such contemplation is necessary. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max have garnered acclaim for their standout features, though those features may not be essential for everyone. I’ve encountered this internal conflict, and more often than I care to admit, with regret often accompanying the purchase of a $1,200 flagship phone—unless it plays a significant role in one’s work or creative process, or if one simply desires the latest model for vanity. A niche market undoubtedly exists for such desires, but it does not dictate product direction.
Currently, smartphones appear costlier than ever, but it's generally accepted that the largest and most powerful Apple iPhone model—now the iPhone 15 Pro Max—will be the priciest standard smartphone available without folding technology. In its ongoing quest to eclipse Apple, Samsung has set the price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra even higher than its predecessor, making it more expensive than an iPhone, despite possessing features like a 5x optical zoom camera and a titanium frame.
Key comparisons highlight the differences between the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
