NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Monday, February 24.
Connections is one of the top puzzle games from the New York Times. The game challenges players to categorize a set of 16 words into four secret (for now) groups by deciphering how the words are interconnected. The puzzle resets every night at midnight, and each new puzzle presents a different level of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compare your scores with friends.
Some puzzles can be more challenging than others—much like other NYT Games favorites such as The Mini and Strands. If you find today’s puzzle difficult, check out our guide for tips and tricks for Connections, or look at the hints provided below. If that doesn’t help, we’ll reveal today’s answers at the end.
How to play Connections
Connections is a daily game centered around discovering common themes among words. Players must choose four groups of four words without exceeding three mistakes. Start playing now at https://t.co/YITfSnqODb pic.twitter.com/CqObVOqeUs

In Connections, you’ll see a grid of 16 words—your goal is to organize these words into four groups of four by identifying the links between them. These groups could include themes such as titles of video game franchises, sequels to book series, shades of red, or names of chain restaurants, among others.
There are often words that may seem relevant to multiple themes, but there’s only one correct answer. You can shuffle the word grid to help identify potential connections more clearly.
Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is the easiest, followed by the green, blue, and purple groups.
Select four words and press Submit. If you’re correct, the four selected words will be removed from the grid, and the connecting theme will be displayed. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake, and you’re allowed only four mistakes before the game ends.

Who is the editor for the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles for The New York Times since 2020, edits Connections every day.
“Several months ago, a new task landed on my desk: to create the game boards for Connections, a category-matching game that had recently been approved and was looking for an editor,” Liu stated in an article explaining her process in June 2024. Most of my puzzle experience has involved crosswords, so I was eager to explore something new. I’ve enjoyed discovering how puzzle editing unfolds once a game is approved and how our team fits into a larger context.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections launching earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok highlighting her favorite puzzles so far:
